Looking for flying sites in the Ft. Collins area.

Anyone know of some nice areas around the Fort Collins, Loveland and Greeley Colorado to fly Sailplanes? I already know about the two R/C clubs, but would prefer flying in an area where mostly folks...

Paying for Flight insrucrtion

What a wonderful fantasy, anyone can with the skills to teach R/C can make a living at it. Do you also promote Mary Kay? They also like to point out what the few high rollers make and ignore what the...

Re: Wing Loading

Well I will take a 2X4 over a Gentle Lady any time and I have flown both. The 2X4 would look even worse than a 2X6 if you want to play with the math. I really don't care to crank numbers as how a...

Electric Pods Now Or Time Warp

Don,
For the sake of trivia and as I recall, The 2X4 came first and the 2X6 followed. Therefore the 2X6 is an enlarged wing 2x4. I found thermal flying my 2x4 not that bad when I flew with the...

Electric Pods Now Or Time Warp

Thanks for the confirmation that a 2X6 is an excellent choice for me to get back into sail planes :)
It was the 2x6 in the local hobby shop that drove me back into the hobby. See the first glider...

Re: Gentle Lady electric conversion

Well first you might have better luck posting this in the Gliders and Sailplanes area rather than the Gliders/Sailplanes For Sale area ;)

There is already a electric conversion for the CG Gentle...

Re: Electra/GL

Hi Greg,

Yep, the hot landings did in my Electra too. I rebuilt my Electra back to working condition and sold it to a friend. It is still hanging up at the Hobby Hut in Grand Junction Colorado...

I have always considered this to be a nice benefit, However.....

Re: HERE'S AN ELECTRIC POD

Thanks for the info Alan :)
I also found it at Tower and seen the Golberg one too.
I just want to make sure the darn thing will work at my altitude and get feed back on the pros & cons.

So, I...

Electric Pods Now Or Time Warp

The first and last glider I flew over 10 years ago with a battery powered motor was an Electra. The battery was one of those R/C car bricks and I was flying on the Western Slope of Colorado at a wee...

Simulator for Power & Sailplane??

Not to argue here, but you get what you pay for is a hollow statement. Money paid does not always equal quality nor does one have to buy a high end R/C simulator to get what you want if the low end...

Re: Simulator for Power & Sailplane??

Hi Bob,
A really good free R/C simulator is FSM found at

I am just getting back into sailplanes after ten years and bought the Game Commander and Easyfly combo. I also use the latest version of the freeware FSM. I did get a chance to use both Realflight...

I'm worried...

The number one thing IMHO that will drive folks to this type of forum from the newsgroups is the reduction of the noise to news ratio. Ten years ago I was totally against this kind of thing, but the...
