RE: Club 40 Racing Hangout

I knew they had 580 cc (20 oz) clunk tanks, but I wasn't aware of 520 CC bladder ones.

RE: Eagle Tree pylon scoring system - any interest?

Removing the unit and downloading each unit into a computer would probably be a deal breaker. You'd have to remove your wing before and after each event. Recording the cuts would be interesting, but...

RE: Scat Cat Dihederal

Dihedral causes drag where the wing meets the fuselage. If the angle is less than 90 deg., say 88 deg. the drag will be increased. Anhedral on a low wing would have less drag. That's why V-tails are...

RE: NMPRA Web site access

I guess you didn't bother to read my previous post above.

All I have to say is try maintaining a forum yourself while there are gretins that want to cause damage to it. I removed 4 bogus...

RE: Seeker aileron sizes

The Quick-V IV by Jim Allen is also 5" from the center and 12"x 1 1/8" from there. This makes a slightly narrower aileron with a total area of 13.5 vs the 11x1 3/8 at 15.125 sq inches.

RE: NEW NELSON Q-40

I asked this on the NMPRA forum, but recieved zero response. Most likely it's a dumb question and that's why, but maybe someone here can answer it for a lowly 424 pilot.

What does it take to get...

RE: Retracts

I saw some retracts at one of the Q40 races in Phoenix once. They were rather inovative and designed by a guy with an ID of DHG!

As I recall they were a one shot system;i.e., they were set in...

RE: Club 40 Racing Hangout

We are adding a racing calendar to the NMPRA website. I'm still messing with it and have a seperate calendar for each district, the NATS and Club 40 racing. You can view all the calendars together. I...

RE: Club 40 Racing Hangout

OK, OK
I give up. Jim Duda sent me the info on ordering a SIG Mid-Star 40 kit, so I did. I am going to go with him to a race in San Antonio next Saturday, 11/18/06. I won't have my plane ready by...

RE: Seeker Wing Mold

Duane,
Hummm, mylar mold liners? Care to enlighten us? Sounds interesting, but I have lots of questions. Like how thick, what kind (source) of mylar, how to handle edges like at wing tips , leading...

Like I mentioned before:

This is basic stuff. Before test flying anyone's airplane, check this as well as correct servo movement and pulling hard on all moveable control surfaces. The...

RE: Ready to Cover

Dave,
The fact that your airplane wants to go nose up makes sense to me. In my limited knowledge of the theory of wings, my understanding is this:

On a symetrical airfoil at 0 deg. incidence...

Not a common experience

From what has been written here you evidently received a lemon. However this is not the common experience. Both the Predator and Viper have had some problems, especially in the early production kits...

RE: Viper 500 - Easy enough even for Don S.

Don,
Have you checked the Viper for rules conformance? Remember many of the early Predators had some illegal airframes, especially fuses that were too narrow. Regulation: "... with a minimum height...

Ballooning

It sometimes helps to raise the tail by increasing the length of the tail skid. This reduces the angle of attack on take off and may resolve the problem of ballooning.

Prop chart...

Interesting prop chart, however it is tuned for sport flying not max speed. A 7.4x8.0 prop now running on Nelsons is recommended for .10 to .15 engines!...
