That is how that clutch mounts it is right and you will have too mod the engine plate. I went though the same thing and after alot of searching found out that that is how they fit on a savage.

The gear box does not turn while the engine is running and it is not permanently engaged to the engine. There is a small shot pin and spring in a hole on back of the crank shaft that turns the shaft...

The crowd pleaser is nice Its rear bumper area kind of tucks in a bit so it will not get ripped up as easy. I also use shoo goo and fiberglass mat that works the best.

The return spring come stock on a savage 25. I dont think that hpi removed them on later savages. Some people remove them to make the throttle servo faster( less drag) but I wouldn't.

Nothing will protect against total loss of power like disconnected battery except a throttle return spring but if you have the spring you dont need the failsafe.
