RE: My latest build

Thanks guys it goes pretty good. I got my new pinion gear today and swapped the Velineon for the Tacon. The Tacon runs about 130 degrees on 16 volts while the Velineon was at 180 on only 7.4 volts. I...

RE: My latest build

Thanks actually I just typed in vacuum forming on Youtube and there are a few guys forming their own rc bodies. My main issue was creating a mold that could stand up to the heat.

For plastic I...

My latest build

Since my last project vehicle ended up being pretty heavy, I decided my next goal would be to reduce that weight. So with my current 2s setup with the Traxxas 3500 motor, I'm at 5.5 pounds which...

RE: My latest project: Video posted

Well I finally got a video put together of this thing in action. I hope you guys enjoy it. That vibrating drive shaft was driving me crazy the whole time. It almost sounds like a nitro plane...

RE: My latest project: Video posted

Thanks I'm glad you like it. It's 12 inches wide with a 13.75 wheelbase which is really long. I don't think it will fit into any class..maybe the 1/8th truggy or buggy. I'm not much of a racer...

RE: My latest project: Video posted

Well I finally finished this project and I must say I'm very pleased with how it turned out. There are still a few minor things to adjust, and I might add sway bars, but other than that its done.

RE: My latest project: Video posted

Actually its the stock body from a Hot Bodies Lightning Stadium Pro. A while back they were having a "garage sale" on their website. I think it was like 8 bucks. Looking back I should have bought a...

Finally made the body mounts and got the bumper on. Up next is the wing. I'll try to get a video soon.

RE: My latest project: Video posted

Actually I'm just running 5 A123 batteries which have 3.3 volts each. I harvested them from a Dewalt drill pack a long time ago and they're still running great. Its really unfortunate Dewalt stopped...

RE: My latest project: Video posted

I agree the one way bearing is taking quite a beating way beyond what it was designed for. When it fails I'll probably just go with a single speed but I'm not sure the diff is necessary since it...

RE: My latest project: Video posted

Thanks for the encouragement guys. Today I'm working on the body mounts the front bumper. I really dislike making those small parts but I can't avoid it forever.

The two speed is from the HPI...

RE: My latest project: Video posted

Yup its the Tacon 4074 2150kv motor. Here are the rest of the build pics up to date. Its not complete yet, but the car is running great. Its about 75 degrees outside and the motor, esc, and batteries...

RE: My latest project: Video posted

Thanks it will eventually have a front bumper, a wing, and a 1/8th truggy body. However, I'll be running it mostly onroad. I designed it with overall speed and acceleration in mind.

Here's the...

RE: My latest project: Video posted

As a little teaser, here's the bottom of the chassis after a couple hours of sanding and polishing. All the holes were center punched and drilled from paper templates I made in Autocad.

My latest project: Video posted

Thought you all might like to see the project I've been working on for the past year or so. Here are some basic Autocad renderings of what it looks like.

RE: Project: Traxxas Zero (1/10th revofluxpede)

Your truck looks so clean and factory built. I'm jealous :) and can't wait for the vid. Props on keeping up with school and your build.

RE: Has my beloved Mamba Max esc died?

Thanks for your input regarding my burned up esc. I appreciate it. However it seems I must surrender this thread to your arguing now. Carry on.

RE: Has my beloved Mamba Max esc died?

I just called Castle Creations and they said since the Mamba Max is discontinued, they'll replace it with the Mamba Pro for $50. That's more in my price range :D

RE: Has my beloved Mamba Max esc died?

I suppose you do have a point about just getting an RX8. Plus I've heard the Mamba Monsters have a tendency to go up in smoke when they feel like it, so I'm gonna avoid them.

By the way I've...

RE: Has my beloved Mamba Max esc died?

From the battery to the esc the wires were roughly 6 inches. I did notice the capacitors had a tendency to become really hot relative to the rest of the speed control. As for the RX8 you recommend......

RE: Has my beloved Mamba Max esc died?

Yeah I guess I'll just see what Castle says then. I've been pushing this thing with 18 volts for about 4 years or more so I can't complain much. I used to run it with the two speed but I recently...

Has my beloved Mamba Max esc died?

I was running my RC car tonight and I noticed flames coming out of my mamba max esc. It did the same thing a couple days ago but afterwards seemed to run just fine. Tonight was much worse though. I...

RE: Project: Traxxas Zero (1/10th revofluxpede)

Now I see all the holes for cooling in those battery boxes. Not sure why I thought they were solid at first. I bet you're gonna have the esc heatsink or fan on the outside of the boxes? Also, are the...

RE: Project: Traxxas Zero (1/10th revofluxpede)

Wow man that build turned out truly beautiful. If you can manage to hide those wires its gonna look so clean. Plus all your components are protected from dirt and crashes by the battery boxes. The...

RE: Project: Traxxas Zero (1/10th revofluxpede)

Awesome I'm glad you found a simple fix to keep that diff in its place. I wish I could borrow some of your motivation for my latest build. Its over in the onroad forum if you want to check it out.
