RE: NEGATIVE FEEDBACK: Northeast Sailplane Products

I noticed a minute ago (on February 12, 2011) that Sal is selling stuff on E**Y as seller 'salnsp'. Maybe using the 'ask the seller a question' feature will get a reply.

MECHANICAL RETRACT CONVERSION TO AIR

I have a scratchbuilt project (FW-190) whose mechanical retracts would make me much happier if I could drive them with linear motion - - push/pull. An air conversion would do that. But I don't want...

Air conversion of mechanical retracts

I ran out of room to mount a servo between the main wheels for mechanical retracts. So...Plan B says to convert actuation to air cylinders. Does anyone know if I will get so lucky as to find a...

ERIC FEARNLEY'S F6F HELLCAT PLANS WANTED

Folks, the gentle 'businessmen' at MAN seem to have dropped this plan from their catalog, and I have a desire to obtain a copy. This is a mostly-scale .40 sized model. Does (1) anyone know whether...

RE: 1/2a Spinners for Cox?

I have successfully used Carl Goldberg 1.5" spinners on Cox Tee Dee's - - I suspect any Cox 1/2A engine would accept them. They were a drop-in fit, too.

RE: Quasoar

I have one of these, finished building it last year and have flown it over the course of the past 12 months. This airplane is a well-kept secret. I built mine with polyhedral, Graupner spoilers,...

Grumman Cougar twin power needs (Dennis Tapsfield drawing)

I've been wanting to build this for years - - I enlarged a freebie plan of it from a German magazine (Flug & Model Technik) up to what I thought was 'original' size, roughly two meters. I have a...

nitromethane & big props

One characteristic of nitromethane that gets lost in the tuning shuffle is that it burns very slowly. The amount of nitro in a fuel affects ignition timing, in effect retarding timing with increased...

RE: Ace foam wings for slope soaring

This has been very successfully done. RCM has a set of plans for a sloper using Ace wings, 'Soar Ace', plan 1124, it uses the tapered wings with a straight-chord center section, originally sold as...

RE: Flyline Model

I doubt if there is an authoritative answer out there to get. The value of all stuff which are no longer being produced is whatever the buyer is willing to pay at the time he has an opportunity to...

RE: platt waco biplane

That's good news about this airplane's flyability, I obtained one from a friend who had about seven seconds of flight with it (departed the ground too soon, got out of ground effect and spun in). ...

fw-190 flutter

Flutter might be setting in earlier than it used to due to some looseness in the elevator control system, perhaps wear over time. What we do when we address flutter is try to set its onset speed...

Citabria balance

This might be one of those airplanes that get airborne in a 3-point attitude in ground effect but are moving too slowly to fly. And any aileron motion will promptly stall the 'down' wing. I suggest...

No worries

Andy,

You're very gracious to be concerned, thank you. I think I might have set off some misunderstanding. I didn't get discouraged by your comments. I'd noted your experimenting with pistons...

More experience....

Andy, that's a great collection of comments and advice.

The piston-seal experience suggests to me that running on glow enough to verify that the piston isn't squeaking to a halt at the top, and...

Norvel diesel conversion

Frank, that sounds like I might have a possibility here. And seeing as already own the stuff, all the better. I had notions of peddling off the engine somewhere, but the Diesel conversion keeps it...

I have an earlier-series (small fin) Big Mig r/c .061 engine and a RJL Diesel conversion head. Both are NIB at the moment.

Does anyone have any experience with this conversion? I am tempted so...

Nice comments. Here's a few of my experiences:

I agree about the Dave Brown spun polyester stuff. I used it some years ago on the same job that I'd also used some Midwest 'Microlon',...

Beginner's propellers

All good advice here. I concur with the idea of using MA propellers, I've found the APC's are going to buy new boats for hobbyshop owners....

There is another topic in play here, this is a...
