RE: Gas engine Ring

I think the problem is likely the cheap, hard rings. In the old days of full scale radial cylinder engines, the rings were broken in on the bench by coating the cylinder with fine grit lapping...

RE: What are boost tabs???

I flew my old Frankenflyer today with boost tabs on all control surfaces. It flew fine with no issues. The ailerons are driven by standard size servos and responded better at high speeds, I get a...

RE: What are boost tabs???

The weather here in Colorado took a turn for the worse a couple of days ago turning my flying field (cow pasture) into a quagmire. I decided to use the time to install boost tabs on all the control...

RE: What are boost tabs???

I have some large scale planes with Ryobi engines and thought I would try adding boost tabs to see how they work. I want to just add a tab on the back side of the control surface and see how that...

RE: What are boost tabs???

Does anyone know the forces that are generated by the boost tab? It would be great to know how large a servo is required. I used a servo force program to try to get the numbers but it doesn't look...

RE: carburetor problem revealed

I ended up just using the plastic cap from a can of spray paint. I cut it to fit the carburetor and put a piece of open cell foam in the large opening. This worked well, any fuel that happened to...

RE: Home made CDI question

You need a coil for a CDI ignition system (actually 2 coils). The easy way to make a toroid coil is to use a 2 part coil form with a plastic bobbin. These are commonly used by ham radio builders. The...

RE: lithium polymer battery problems

I have looked at universal brushless ESC and they mostly have an automatic cutoff that cuts out at 70% of the initial voltage. That is about 7.77 volts for a 3 cell 11.1 volt battery. Is this goint...

RE: lithium polymer battery problems

Thanks
