You're right marc, they are hand holds for the aircrew / groundcrew. There is a telescopic ladder in the panel underneath the strake that can be used if there are no steps available when landing away...

The tam pipe ends are even on mine too, same as mowery1 indicates.

As for the brake kit, it's made by CARF. I got mine 4 months...
