HotSpot question

I used a single Futaba 9402 on each elevon on my Hot Spot. It worked well but one decided to go south in flight. If I built another I would put 2 servos on each elevon. Don't bother splitting it. The...

HS Speed Brakes

I think that the speed brake on the Hot Spot was a nice addition. I did notice a difference when I used the brake vs when I didn't up at high density altitudes. I also fly off dry lake beds usually...

High Bypass Turbo fan Engine...........

Good question Jack. I would love to see one and hope that a manufacture brews one up in the near future. I think a RAM 500 size turbine for power would be awesome. Turboprops sound great but think...

Smooth Stop vs. UP 6.

I have had both valves and I prefer the UP-6. It feels more like a real brake on a car or airplane in that it really is porportional. I like being able to just touch the brakes a little or really get...

Boomerang's first flight!

Hey Ken,

That looks great! What's the span on it? I think something like that would be really fun to poke around the sky with....maybe even scare the IMAC guys by saying you were going...

Ram 1000 Starting problems?

Hi Greg,

What series is your RAM 1K? If it's the X series, I had to just sit down one afternoon and play with it to get it to light consistantly at high altitude. I'm at 4,600' MSL and...

Has anyone built a Learjert 35A or alike?

Marty Snell of Evanston, Wyoming scratch built an EDF Lear. That's the picture that Bob R. posted and the plane flies very well, even at 4,600 MSL.

Inflight Restart?

You're right it does take time to cool down but I don't think it would take 20 seconds to in the air. It may take 20 seconds on the ground with the auto cool down but a good 45MPH wind should help...

Inflight Restart?

Has anyone ever tried to restart their turbine inflight? I figure if it's possible it would only take a couple seconds for the turbine to cool down enough but my concern would be not having enough...

Full Size don't use 1:1 so why do we?

Hey! I like that...just as long as it has a speed limiter (wink wink). :D Forget about storing fuel onboard, just hook up a garden hose to it. I'd just be courious to see how'd you start that...

Full Size don't use 1:1 so why do we?

Bruce,

Good point! Somewhere around 2 1/2 tons of thrust on a 1/6 scale F-16 would be crazy! Then again, I bet it would go mach 2 also. :)

I guess truly scale flying models will...

Full Size don't use 1:1 so why do we?

Hunterman,

Glad to hear your Hunter performs so well. Ok, here another reason to have more power...you can fly on hot days at 4,600' MSL and not just have a very expensive R/C car! :)

1:1

Hi Dave,

I fly a 1/6 scale A-10 that I would guess has close to a scale thrust to wieght ratio and it is underpowered. If you think about it, fullscale airplanes take off of runways that...

RCJI

The R/C Jet International is an awesome publication! Go check out the web site and I'm sure you'll be hooked once you see an issue. My complaint is that they only come out every 2 months. :)

Best Wishes for RAM

I think that RAM closing will hurt us all more than we think. I have owned several different turbines and I have really liked the RAM line. Anytime we lose someone like RAM, IMO we lose out on new...

Kangaroo Canards

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the input on the Canard-o-Roo. I have a good idea on where to start with it. I'm sure I'll have more questions but I'll see what I can do.

Dennis, how do you...
