Hwa224,

Glad to see you are testing different setups for the Durga :)

I ran a Center One-Way while I was club racing for two years (both outdoor off-road (loose dirt) and indoor off-road...

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

Hwa224,

I was made to understand that the Center One-Way is better for off-road (bumpy, rough, loose traction ) surfaces and the Front One-Way is better for (smooth, high traction) surfaces.

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

Speaking of 501/511/Aftermarket bodies.. I have checked on these in the past, but I have not yet found any 501/511/aftermarket bodies that fit the DB-01 chassis properly. Mostly due to the generally...

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

Colzy2,

I see what you mean in the pictures. It would seem to me that the extruded nub coming off the end of the motor canister (holding a bearing) is causing big problems with the...

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

Tower never really had that many DB-01 parts to begin with, even when the buggy was new.. You are better off buying parts from http://www.stellamodels.com.hk/ or http://www.rcmart.com/ - they always...

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

A loose slipper clutch can completely break down a diff (just like you described). Check your slipper clutch first and ensure that it is tightened down to at least the Tamiya spec shown in the...

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

The aluminum camber blocks and rear uprights are a nice addition to improve durability and fine tuning.

The Atomic Carbon front and rear shock towers are also a bonus for durability - the rear...

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

How deep is the hex on the front Thunder Tiger wheels? The Yeah Racing hex adapters for the front may be too narrow causing the wheels to bind against the front uprights (Parts C1 & C2) when the...

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

The DB-01R kit does include the Motor Heatsink plate and the High Traction Chassis. Just swap out the stock motor mount for the Hop-Up part and you are good to go.

Go with ceramic diff balls if...

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

I've been running a Novak Ballistic 6.5T so I can compete in the 4WD Mod class at the club tracks. I highly recommend the Novak motors for their build quality, performance, and most of all because...

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

I know that Malice can give you good feedback on the 3Racing vs 501X outdrives.. I have only ever owned the 501X outdrives, so I am not sure how they compare to the 3Racing counterparts.

I can...

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

I also agree. Everything about that combo is excellent - good speed, reliable and durable.. The only negative thing I have ever heard about the LRP motors are that some of them have a shorter shaft...

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

Ratsack,

Check page 6 and 7 of the DB01 manual.. The left side of the page shows how the K1 and A8 parts mesh.. Adjusting the inner rings of those parts will add or remove tension on the belts....

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

Ratsack,

Sorry to hear about the new problems that have cropped up.. You mentioned that the rear belt was split, so rymansl2 makes a good point about the belt possibly being too tight.. The...

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

Ratsack,

No problem.. The diffs can be one of the trickiest things to setup correctly.. It sounds like you got them setup perfectly now :)

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

Legdog,

It's easy to confuse the rear arm shafts from the front arm shafts because there is only a 2.5mm difference between them. Trust me though, that 2.5mm difference is what makes it possible...

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

Good to hear that they opened the other racing classes.. For a second there I thought they were only offering Short Course [X(]

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

Malice,

I base it on typical hand strength.. If you get to the point where you are straining your hand and wrist to move the pulley, then your diff should be plenty tight - so your guess is...

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

Ratsack,

Sorry to hear that you might retire your DB-01.. But if 1/8th scale is what you like, then that is what you should go for..

In the meantime I did want to pass on this advice for...

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

I think Tamiya wanted to comply with existing standards for other high end 4WD buggies - that way standard wheels and tires could be used instead of just the Tamiya brand.. I was "very" thankful they...

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread
