RE: CMP 120 Zero ARF Build thread

RE: CMP 120 Zero ARF Build thread

Hi Chaps, I haven't looked in for quite a while on account of damaging my own Zero after just a few flights trying to get it in over tall crop on our smallish field hot with no flaps! I put it up the...

RE: CMP 120 Zero ARF Build thread

Cooling is a major problem with the SP's, I have closed off most of the front of my cowl with just an intake section open directly inline with a duct I have put in to direct the air directly down...

RE: CMP 120 Zero ARF Build thread

Thank you Zero, I want to strive for a much better video once as Shuglu says my confidence in the model is right. Shuglu glad you are getting on with your repairs ok, what engine are you using? I...

RE: CMP 120 Zero ARF Build thread

Hi Shuglu, Yes the strip is very tight, especially with shoulder high crops around it's edges! It's a new club for me having recently relocated, so still getting used to the 'strip' It's actually...

RE: CMP 120 Zero ARF Build thread

Thank you LDM. It was a bit sensitive to fly the way it was. I've changed a truck load of things and hope to get a decent flight out of it this weekend;) Yes The Typhoon is mine too.

RE: CMP 120 Zero ARF Build thread

Tried my Zero again at last weekend, still having teething problems with it. The obvious one was the retracts, I have now replaced them with an air set that seem much more positive. Engine ran...

RE: CMP 120 Zero ARF Build thread

Thanks Shuglu, I really want to grab a decent video of this model once the engine is sorted properly. I had hoped to get out today to re test the new engine cooling, but it's just too windy here. I'm...

RE: CMP 120 Zero ARF Build thread

Thanks Misha034. I set my C of G at 145mm and it still needed a little down trim to hold the nose down. With the RCV 120sp It required 9 oz of lead screwed to the bottom of the engine mount block....

RE: CMP 120 Zero ARF Build thread

Hi guy's,
Apologies for just disappearing off the thread over a year ago! It wasn't that the model had crashed or anything like that:) I was just having a lot of domestic difficulties and...

RE: CMP 120 Zero ARF Build thread

Zero,
the gear doors are made from Litho plate, which just in case anyone hasn't heard of this, is a very thin ali material used in the printing trade. I get mine from the local litho printers,...

RE: CMP 120 Zero ARF Build thread

Hi Chaps, & thanks for your replies;)
The wing as it comes is a very poor design as far as the retract rail installation goes! I personally would have liked to see the rails span three ribs to...

RE: CMP 120 Zero ARF Build thread

Thanks Zero,
I seem to be going really slowly with the Zero lately, just doing little bits as and when. I've just about got the retracts sorted out now though.
I decided to heed everyone's...

RE: CMP 120 Zero ARF Build thread

p.s. Mine also came with two sets of springs. I took out the light springs and inserted the heavy springs as this will probably be a fair weight of a model!

RE: CMP 120 Zero ARF Build thread

Hi Bryan, Thanks mate.
The oleo's are from YT International, they are the ones they sell for their bearcat I believe??? They are quite a bit longer than we require for the Zero, but the chaps at...

RE: CMP 120 Zero ARF Build thread

Hi Chaps,
Whilst I've been waiting for my oleo legs to turn up so I can finish the Zero I decided to make a couple of gun stocks to match up with the barrels I'd put in. I also decided to...

OK, Thanks Bryan. I don't really want to add them for the sake of it if I can get away with out them, so thanks for the insight;) I had read about the weak landing gear design with this model, and...

RE: CMP 120 Zero ARF Build thread

Hi Bryan,
Thanks for your comments, It was only meant to be a quick representation of weathering to improve the looks of the 'new' out the box model. I didn't go crazy researching or...

RE: CMP 120 Zero ARF Build thread

Hi Zero,
Thank you for your kind comments. The paint isn't wiped off again, It is purely stippled on with the wire wool. Obviously using more paint for a more solid metal look and dabbing most of...

RE: CMP 120 Zero ARF Build thread

Hi Bryan,
That was very much the effect I was trying to represent,...Worn away paint work as opposed to purely chipped paint work. Though I admit to nicking the idea from another chap on...
