RE: Amps while holding plane

This is an ancient question, and was in actuality answered over a century ago by a couple of chaps known as the Wright brothers.
First, the Wrights did NOT just stumble into the correct formula for...

RE: Using Swift Guts in a Slow Stick

The Slowstick is ONE of the best beginner's planes, but lately I've begun steering the folks I teach to fly to the newly re-introduced "Wingo" and the Multiplex "EasyStar".
Neither of the later...

RE: POOR MAN'S BALLPARK ALTIMETER

I've found that a Bushnell Laser Rangerfinder for deer hunting does admirable service as a quickie altimeter, although it, too, must measer the plane from directly overhead (and it's better if you...

RE: Great Planes Fokker Dr-1 Triplane

Greg's review is spot-on. This isn't an easy plane to fly but if you'cn keep your eyeballs focused on it, it is an absolute ball.
I've had mine for over a month now, and would rate it's flying...

RE: Wing Dragon 4 Design Change

One thing that'd make it look better is a pilot figure, such as comes with the 3-channel Wing Dragon (I DID have one of those).
Maybe photoshop one of those in and see how she looks.

RE: Wing Dragon 4 Design Change

That almost looks like the canopy/cover of an EasyStar.

RE: Electric Trainor?

Now that I think about it... I've just visited the HobbyLobby site...
They now sell the Wingo, brought back to the USA. I don't care WHO ya're or how experienced - the Wingo is an incredibly fun...

RE: Slo-v ESC/RX How to fix?

ESC/RX stands for Electronic Speed Control and Receiver.
There may be folks here who'cn tell you what to look for to fix it, but it should be covered under warranty - personally I'd give Horizon...

RE: Electric Trainor?

The use of a 3D flat foamy is an aberation. These planes fly so slowly they can be flown more easily than a Slow Stick.

RE: Art-Tech airplanes

Art-Tech makes uniformly excellent airplanes for the $$. I have no experience with the P-51, but placing it against the Parkzone one might not quite be fair. The PZ Mustang is a thoroughly debugged...

RE: Electric Trainor?

If you're willing to spend time on a simulator to get basic skills, the best trainer that "looks" like a real plane, Cessna-wise, would be a Multiplex Magister. It's a big plane, true, but flies...

RE: Electric Trainor?

If you begin flying with a front-mounted prop plane, and it's not a true basic trainer, you'll be replacing props every third flight and replacing engine mounts (as well as other parts of the plane)...

RE: GYROS For planes

Gyros work VERY well for airplane use, particulary for fast, jittery "jet" types and rear pusher jets. Here's one that's RTF and fitted with one out of the box:

RE: Goldberg Surge 400?

I didn't see a lipo-compatible charger on your list, but other than that, "ya done good!".
I dislike brushless motors with gearboxes. They are, to put it mildly, NOISY. It's at LEAST as loud as a...

RE: my new project

Funny you should post this - I was looking at one today!
I was considering buying one and trying to make a super-light flyer, with a AstroFlight FireFly motor system and tiny RC equipment (but...

RE: Great Planes Fokker Dr-1 Triplane

I've been flying mine a couple of weeks now. It's a great little flier, a bit twitchier than it's stablemates (Fokker D-V11 and SE-5A), but nothing to worry about. It's definitely the easiest to fly...

RE: Can't launch my art-tech biplane, help!

Actually, I've found the reverse true - the increased air density creates better performance all the way around.
Sometimes cold weather affects speed controls, though, and they'll have to be cycled...

RE: P-51 D RTF

How 'bout some in-flight pics, zoid?
Were your three previous planes Aero-Aces?
Or maybe the Estes series? Have you been online taking courses on the Este's "Pappy's Flying School" simulator?

RE: Graupner Mosquito

If someone's got an unassembled kit, it'd be a VERY easy one to duplicate from scratch. There's only 7 pieces to the fuse, 2 for wing, and 4 for V-tail. A single sheet of balsa would make the entire...

That's P-51 Mustang.
I hope you have a big field if it's going 40 mph!

RE: small park flyers (not micro small though)

Yep, there's quite a few.
The GWS Tiger Moth is one, and is likely the easiest to fly. There are the Cox Micro Warbirds, with a twenty-inch wingspan. They require somewhat specialized radio gear...

RE: Graupner Mosquito

Yep, I just ordered two more, myself. Great little planes, if somewhat temperamental. However, almost ALL planes of this size/weight are.
When I saw the HobbyLobby sale I snapped two more right up...
