RE: *Airtronics RD8000 2.4 GHz*

Wrong, I found out there are different EPA settings for the flap switch detents. I can set the epa for flaps at neutral, mid, and low positions. No servo overtravel crunch. I either didn't catch that...

RE: *Airtronics RD8000 2.4 GHz*

Well, I think I can finally have the flaperons do what I want. For landing, I would like the full strip ailerons to drop like flaps, say 35*, then only the up going aileron would be active. That way...

RE: *Airtronics RD8000 2.4 GHz*

Well, I see the old wire problem is still going. Well, let's see how an idiot like me would solve that. Seems I have a bunch of old servos in the uuuuuuuhhhhhh, maybe box. I need to buy an auto...

RE: New Thinder Tiger GP10 home

I built a Herr Cherokee. Converted to electric, not too much problem with balance, but it does help to use 2mm CF rods instead of the steel ele and rud pushrods. I am only pushing 150 watts peak...

RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36

Some people gauge motor efficiency by IO , the unloaded current needed to simply spin the motor alone. Some motors may not need much to spin themselves but can use more to power a load than some...

RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36

I would say go a bit more $$ on the motor and speed controller for more efficiency. Like Scorpion or Hyperion. Watts in vs thrust is low on a heli. You need all the efficiency you can get since a...

RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36

They get some sideplay in the flybar holder. It will fly a long time like that , like hundreds of flights. As a matter of fact, the heli is more responsive when the flybar moves as easily as...

RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36

Back on the bright side, I started flying airplanes also. I got an E-Starter and it's a very NICE plane. Very easy to fly but a bit tricky to land at first. Hover landings the heli's get so easy.

RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36

I think I will be like Jesus and always be dissatisfied with this state of existance, and as with him, there ARE good times. Only too many bad things to correct.

RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36

Oh, and I didn't mean to sound sad, only the way I see it. After all, we all have to go sometime. It could be any time. And I think praying to Jesus to be saved in the moment of death won't quite be...

RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36

On the old 72mhz rx, the esc goes to slot #3. And you need to pull and tape the red esc wire or the esc BEC will fight with the receiver BEC.
You really need a programmable radio to make the...

RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36

Yea, that looks sort of unpleasant. I got stuck with a graveyard in the far end of "my" yard and I always remember death and my near death by electrocution. After all this garbage I'm stuck with, I...

RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36

Still flying mine, and it handles 10-15mph but with some work. Replaced the HS-56HB tail servo at 1040 flights. The old one was getting a bit weak on the fine corrections. Only little 5* wiggles, but...

RE: Walkera 36 Brushless motor upgrade

A Scorpion HK2208-28 , 12t pinion, and Align BL-35G ESC is going to be a cool running, powerful, reliable system. I have two setups. One on a W36 and one on an MX400 CCPM.
A throttle curve of...

RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36

I just hit my 1000'th flight on my 36. Friday March 13, 2009. Up to 2003 now, it started raining this morning, the day AFTER Friday 13th.
Zero crashes on this one and still in near new condition....

RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36

I would get a better radio system. That heli is a bit more powerful than you think, and you just shouldn't gamble on a not so good radio. I'm sure you can do MUCH better and get a progammable one ,...

RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36

Be serious about the battery scraping the motor. At worst it could wear through and cause a fire. I finally got 2 flights in on my 36 tonight. Weather has been pretty bad. I was going cookoo from...

RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36

It looks like you need to make a stop to keep the battery from sliding against the motor. That could cause an in-flight fire. I hope you like the Scorpion stuff.

RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36

Sounds like you will have to join us and get a better radio system. Is that the new 2.4ghz system or the older one with the long antenna ? If it's the older one, you will probably crash unless you...

RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36

Thanx. Just got a big laugh at Hobby People. They have an HH gyro on sale for $25 + $10 shipping. $10 more and I can get a Telebee from Heli Direct with a LIMIT adjustment and it will come along with...

RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36

I cured the worst of the drift in my G006 gyro. I took the sensor out of the foam and CA'd the metal case part to the pc board. That is with the sensor vertical as it was, but CA'd in the middle, and...

RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36

You should put a Trex tail case on with the 3x8x3 bearings. They seem above the delicate margin. Direct swap, no mods.

I decided to drill and tap my worn swash hub for replaceable bearings. The...

RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36

Hold the flybar with one hand, and twist each blade, one at a time. Look for where the slop happens and work from there to make the weak place(s) firm but free.

RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36

Got it going again. I didn't have a W36 swashplate in my pocket so I decided to use the MX400 swash center hub. It works great, so maybe it will last longer. The Falcon washout balls are brass so I...
