Yep.either way on these.The other being the pinch clamp with hex head loosened at crankcase inlet so carb spigot with carb can be removed and reinserted the other way around.You must hold pressure...

1)They adjust to rpm.

I have never encountered a "clean" Saito case rear bearing bore sufficiently heated for easy fit assembly damaging or destroying a front bearings seal previously...

Yep,could be the fault.
Does your ignition work on your mates engine/sensor with your plug or,
Does your ignition spark at plug when battery disconnected from ignition.
If yes try the following...
