RE: Runs sitting still, dies on taxi...

So, you fly 3D rates, with NO expo or Dual rates? You fly thumbs?

RE: Runs sitting still, dies on taxi...

I didn't start on a funtana BTW. I started on a Tower Trainer 40, and an Avistar, put about 2 gallons through them.

RE: Runs sitting still, dies on taxi...

Thanks for the insight man. I really like the sound of four strokes, but I will reserve a 4 stroke for my next model, hopefully a 1.20 sized plane. I will save my money for a radio, which i really...

RE: Runs sitting still, dies on taxi...

A satio 82 isn't more powerful than a TH .46? A satio 82 will swing a 14x4w with some authority I thought, although at a lower RPM i guess. My .46 is swinging a 12.25 x 3.75 @ 11,100 (rich). I see...

RE: Runs sitting still, dies on taxi...

I can't mount the original muffler, the engine is sidemounted. If stock muffler would hit the bottom of the fuse.

RE: Runs sitting still, dies on taxi...

Yeah the Cline and the Iron Bay seem quite overpriced, but that is expected I guess when you have a virtual monopoly on a niche market.

RE: Runs sitting still, dies on taxi...

Sweet. I will go get a VP-20 tomorrow from 'da LHS then. I am REALLY thinking about just biting the bullet and getting a Saito 82a, but I REALLY need a better radio. I am using a (please don't laugh)...

RE: Runs sitting still, dies on taxi...

Ok, its settled, I am getting a perry pump then... But Which one? I am skeptical about the VP-20, does it work well? Or should I just get the VP-30? Thanks for the patience guys!

RE: Runs sitting still, dies on taxi...

This engine has about 1 gallon through it, but it was on a Tower Trainer then. These problems didn't start until I put it on the funtana. Ok, I will buy a Perry pump, and machine some aluminum plugs...

RE: Runs sitting still, dies on taxi...

I've got some new needle valve o-rings on the way. They looked cut a little, from the first time I attempted to richen it, and the needle valve came all the way out. I am sure my clunk isn't stuck,...

RE: Runs sitting still, dies on taxi...

Thats true, I am green! I am was thinking about getting a VP-20 or VP-30 pump. What do you guys think about the VP-30, more or less fool proof than a VP-30? I can't mount my engine with the stock...

Runs sitting still, dies on taxi...

Ok, I got my TH .46(Slimline Pitts Muffler) running great and flew it saturday, 1 flight, no dead stick. My other post is here TH .46 ran fine upright, not sideways! . I went to fly it yesterday, and...

RE: TH .46 ran fine upright, not side-mounted!

Got it all resolved. I did several things.

1.I took the carb off, and re-tightened the nut while pressing the carb in.
2.I switched to an APC 12.25x3.75 Prop
3.Replaced the fuel line from...

RE: TH .46 ran fine upright, not side-mounted!

Ok, I will mess with the low speed some, put a 10x6 or 11x6 on it, I have both. If nothing else works I will modify the muffler.

RE: TH .46 ran fine upright, not side-mounted!

Yeah, I think I'll go to a 10x6 prop, and weld block off plates on the ends of the pipes. Then drill small holes in them, and open them up gradually, till I get a good balance of power vs....

RE: TH .46 ran fine upright, not side-mounted!

Ok, I think I will switch props, and try that. Is it normal I can't richen it up enough to "drown" it?

TH .46 ran fine upright, not side-mounted!

I have a TH .46, was on a Tower Trainer. I have been really impressed with this engine, it seems(seemed) like a power house. I took it off of the Tower Trainer(mounted upright), and am using it...

Pattern and IMAC differences?

What are the differences between "pattern"(is it called F3A?) and IMAC? Also, how do I get started in pattern. I downloaded the schedule, and the 2-D ribbon diagram, but some of it is confusing to...

RE: What engine for a H9 Cap 232 1.20(1/4 scale)

I think its a real sweet plane, and I got it for only $50, (no gear, hardware, or instructions). But it will be my first "big plane", and I really like the way Caps fly(at least on the sim)....

RE: What engine for a H9 Cap 232 1.20(1/4 scale)

And the saito 220 weighs .5 oz less than a OS 1.60(including muffler)... Would a 220 be a good choice, or stick with the 180?

RE: What engine for a H9 Cap 232 1.20(1/4 scale)

Hmm. I just read about the OS 1.60FX converted to diesel... Says it puts out as much power as a 3.2cu/in glow engine. That would be pretty sweet too, but I don't know much about running on diesel.

RE: What engine for a H9 Cap 232 1.20(1/4 scale)

I think a 26cc gasser would be cool, but I think for me, I will reserve gas for a 27%er and up, just so I can keep my wing loading low.

RE: What engine for a H9 Cap 232 1.20(1/4 scale)

Ok. I am pretty much set on a saito 180. I don't know why everyone voted on the OS 1.60, I don't think anyone has even talked about it in the thread. Everyone agree a Saito 180 would be a good chioce...
