I agree the Dark horse calculator is a good link for figuring gearing , motor + battery size ect. I run an 11t on a 4200kv motor on my king with woodies and and stock head, no problems at all.

With the motor disconnected.....TX on and battery connected your swashplate should be level as possible with zero trims....thats done
by adjusting the servo links and servo horns as neccessary. ...

One more thing Jay.... AFTER you get comfortable hovering I highly recommend a telebee headlock gyro...its inexpensive compared to others...

I would say that problem revolves more around the bad motor esc. You can check this stuff first and make sure your setup is in the right direction.

Sorry bout your trouble.....

No matter what your local hobbyshop said......The HBK2 is a great and inexpensive heli...even the stock transmitter, reciever and servos are not bad for what it cost. ...
