Which battery for Trex 550E Pro DFC... beginner pilot.

My uncle just bought a Trex 550E Pro DFC. It has a 730MX 850 KV motor and a 1:7 gear ratio. What kind of battery should he get for it? He's new to flying and is still in the hovering stage with a...

RE: Trusty old Futaba 9ZHP's LCD screen is a bit dark.

It's not too dark to read yet, but it's probably slowly getting worse. I don't think it's worth fixing for $240. I took the radio apart yesterday because I heard a rattling inside. It was a loose...

Trusty old Futaba 9ZHP's LCD screen is a bit dark.

I've been using this 2nd hand (non WCII) Futaba 9ZHP for something like 11 years now. I "converted" it to 2.4 GHz about 4 years ago. I've noticed since last year that the LCD screen is darker than I...

RE: Looking for light, 40ish sized plane similar to a Sig Somethin' Extra for electric.

I appreciate all the suggestions, this is a great thread. I am looking for something more sporty with a very thick fully symmetrical wing, but I have to admit that the escapade 40 does interest me. A...

RE: 40 sized phoenix models sukhoi sensitive elevator at low speed.

The CG is at 4.5 inches or about 114 mm. It can definitely use a bit more weight towards the back. The spins aren't flat and I need quite a bit of down elevator while inverted. Elevator trim stays...

RE: 40 sized phoenix models sukhoi sensitive elevator at low speed.

Well, the flat spins aren't very flat, and it takes more elevator than I think it should while inverted. Elevator authority is just fine at low speeds, the problem is the elevator seems to get more...

LiFe = A123? What charger should I use?

I'm looking to get into 40ish sized electric aircraft by this coming spring/summer. A few years ago I had a 50 sized electric heli I powered with a Dewalt A123 10S2P and a 14S1P pack. I used a bench...

40 sized phoenix models sukhoi sensitive elevator at low speed.

I built this plane a bit heavy. It has an old OS surpass 70 in the nose, so I put the elevator and rudder servos in the tail to compensate. I don't have a scale, but it certainly feels heavy for a...

Looking for light, 40ish sized plane similar to a Sig Somethin' Extra for electric.

Anyone have any good suggestions? I'm looking for a light plane, preferably an ARF, but a kit will do, for electric flight. I'd like something of about the size of a 40. 50 - 60 inch wingspan type...

Trex 600 motor

Is it possible to find a motor that will run at 36 volts for the T-rex 600? I know the Raptor e 620 says you can run a 6s - 10s battery. I would like to put a 10s1p M1 / A123 pack into a...

LiPoDapter (Dapter) for A123s

It seems to me the Dapter does the brainy part of the charging. If I have a walmart charger set to charge at 22v and 8 amps will the Dapter stop the charging process once a 6S1P A123 is charged? Is...

Hurricane 550.

How does this compare to the raptor 50 or T-Rex 550? I like the reduced cost of using the smaller lipos. I'm still trying to figure out about A123 li-ions though.

A123 li-ion packs

Who sells these and are they good for helicopter use? I've heard a little bit about them and they seem like an affordable pack to use with a 600 sized helicopter. Anyone have and experience or...

T-rex 600, Raptor 50 or Hurricane 550?

I'm finally breaking down and am going to have to get a helicopter. I'm looking at the Raptor 50, the T-rex 600, and the Hurricane 550. I have a lot of experience with the raptor 50 but I don't...

RE: XtremeLink™ - 2.4GHz for Futaba, JR, and Hitec radios

I've been keeping track of the thread at RCG. Pretty much just a couple of sharks attacking XPS in a large ocean of user questions with poor Jim of XPS trying to hold his own.

RE: Which heli: Reviews?

Hmm, I'm not quite sure if I want eCCPM or not. I have 3 fast and torquey futaba digital servos for cyclic and collective and I know they all would work fine for either eCCPM or mCCPM. The only big...

I will probably get back into helicopter in the next few months. I used to have a Raptor 50 and may get another one. What helicopters are similar to the Raptor 50? Is there a place I can find an easy...

RE: Raptor 50, 60, or electric?

Ouch I didn;t realize that they could only fly for 6 minutes. 12 minutes is minimum for me... I guess it's back to gas. I guess the best engine out for a Raptro 50 is the OS 50 hyper?

RE: Raptor 50, 60, or electric?

How expensive are the batteries? Can it be possible to get 15 minutes of casual flying with out the batteries weighing too much?

Raptor 50, 60, or electric?

I think after I sell my full sized plane I will get back into helicopters. I used to have a raptor 50 and was at the aerobatic stage when I sold it. I've got a GY401, three futaba digital cyclic...
