RE: SR Eindecker

It was probably the easiest kit I ever put together. The manual was just fantastic with 310 photos and drawings. I powered mine with an ACTRO 40-6 electric with a 9s4p 8Amp Lipo battery. More power...

RE: Seidel Radial Engines

I have a nine cylinder original Siedel [about 100cc], never run. Paid $2500 for it a few years ago. If it will help you I will let it go for a tremendous discount. Contact me off list at...

RE: SR Eindecker

You fella's keep refering to the SR Eindecker as an EIII. The one I built and reviewed in R/C Report was the E-I from SR Batteries. Have they changed the kit?

RE: P-39 "where to find"

I can't imagine a model too big to fly electric. There is even a man carrying electric being experimented with now. I personally know of two 100" SR batteries WWI Eindecker models being flown on...

RE: P-39 "where to find"

Go Electric! Hide the motor. It is a pure shame to disturb the streamline shape with a cylinder sticking out. Electric motors and ESCs as well as battery systems are getting as powerful as some of...

RE: Tapping Aluminium

Coconut oil is my favorite aluminum tapping fluid. Works for aluminium, too, old chap.

RE: Need top 3 design tips for twins

Bill,

The "Mossie" is a tail dragger and at takeoff is exactly what I was talking about. The propeller and angle of attack induced "P" factor is only a nusance but sure does cause a lot of the...

RE: Need top 3 design tips for twins

Hi Snitch,

In reading through the answers you got it seems that an engine out situation is everybodies main concern. Have you considered electric power? Can't hardly get more reliable than that....

Turning the receiver on first will check for other transmitters on your freq. Just be sure to watch for any control going hard over jamming the servo. Stray RF will cause control...

RE: Top Gun B-25 Down

Mr. Hahn,
I have watched your efforts from afar and have always been impressed. I am not and never will be a competitor in scale but I enjoy building and flying models that look like the full size...

RE: Range check question?

The aircraft must, of course, be properly restrained. Also, if it is fitted with the auto cutoff as required at the Joe Noll site, that will have to be disabled. Electric speed controls are usually...

RE: The Father of Giant Scale has passed

Really sorry to hear about Bob. I have been a distant friend for a long time. I still have one of his first third scale Laser 200 planes (needs refurbishing). He was one of the kindest, friendliest,...

RE: Range check question?

Hey Chuck and Mike too,
You are both quite right and because of that a field strength meter is not of much use for us. They are usually not tuned or are very broadbanded. They read RF density at...

RE: Scale WWI Prop Nut

Try SR Batteries. They offer one for their E-1 using the AXI 4130. Don't know if they have them for other prop shafts.

RE: 4* or Tiger ? GET THE 4* here is why

When Carl Goldberg was alive you could not beat the quality of his products. I'm sorry to find out Lanier got his company. When Purdy owned Lanier he was probably the first American company to offer...

RE: 300 special just arrived, converting to electric

Thanks for the reply Joacim and AirborneSGT, I am just finishing a Kankge Rearwin Speedster from SR Batteries with a Plettenberg 370/50/3A with controller from Shulze. Right now I'm considering an...

RE: 300 special just arrived, converting to electric

Question to all:

I haven't been lurking for quite a while so I may be asking a question that has already been answered. The discussion on the 300 Special gives me some hope of being in the right...

RE: Li-Po Batteries

Gordon,
I'm with you to a certain extent. I once saw an experienced scale competitor start his glow engine with a balsa scale prop. Balsa hurts too! I think we are doing a good job of spreading the...

RE: Li-Po Batteries

Chuck,
I agree with your thinking 100%, which is hard for me, I don't usually feel that strongly about anything. Anything as good as the "new" Lithium technology is not going to go away no matter...

My house builder stuck some sheetrock to a concrete wall...

RE: Li-Po Batteries

I doubt that they are much more dangerous than gasoline. Just a matter of becoming as familiar in the care and feeding process. Exercising due care is important in any endeavor.

RE: Help identify this CAP? #1

WATCH OUT!! I had a Yellow Aircraft CAP 10B. Beautiful kit but came out too heavy for the wing size. Glass fuse, foam wings. Weak landing gear (Yellow A/C said a bunch of their kits got out without...

RE: RE: electric is unbelievably frustrating

I mentioned efficiency. It is useful (essential?) for the entire power system but a less efficient motor is sometimes used for more power. Your idea is great if we use torque instead of thrust.
