It's all a balancing act.
A higher wing loading means you have more Weight which requires the wing to provide more Lift to fly. Lift is generated by the square of the air speed (as well as Drag)....

First Airplanes are very good at making epoxy mixing sticks for the second airplane! IMHO a great second plane is the Sig 4-Star. They are easy to repair. Ask me how I know.
