RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Do I win for the first video surveillance Aero Ace?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WeMK1fOh1k

I tried mounting the camera – a key fob video camera from ebay for $10 - on the original...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Sorry for the off topic post. I don't know a better place to find people with good electrical knowledge and experience with lithium batteries, plus I figured this thread could maybe use a post right...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

I was recently reminded of a post I put up maybe a year ago. I still have some 50 mAh lipos if you need something like that for lighter weight AA or other mods. I can ship them out for $5 a piece.

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

I built the Pilatus P4 from those plans. The plane was amazing. It is actually the only ace that I have ever lost. It would climb on the lowest throttle setting. I got it up about 20 or 30 feet...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

That's a definite problem. The circuitry won't even handle more current than the stock motors draw.

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

My experience is that you can scale up a lot bigger than the general dimensions of the aero ace. My favorite AA powered planes are a Pilatus 4 with 40 inch wingspan and a turbo air surfer with...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Just thought I'd let you know that target.com has the full-size storm launcher on sale for $18. Unfortunately, shipping is another $10. Still $28 is not bad.

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Does the nose seem to be in an upward attitude? IT is hard to get these planes to fly right if they are not flying somewhat close to level. If the nose up attitude is too great any turn input will...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

I picked up the rolling fury last week. ti was on sale at Target for $30. It is amazing how bad some of the AH stuff flies right out of the box. Mine nosed up so much even under minimal throttle...

I am looking forward to the day when I can get a real lipo charger at a reasonable price - maybe $20. Until then, I am a big fan of the wall wart tx charger mod. I use that all the time...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

3 out of 4 bad planes is probably worse than normal, but not unusual. I think that AH has some very poor quality control. I have had 3 out of 4 before, but usually at least half have been good for...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Just taking another look at this as I start into another round of flying wing models. It looks like you have no dihedral on this plane. Is that right?

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

I think so. I only had one for a short while - never flew it - before taking it back. I thought it was all the same guts as the AA, but with the fans instead of the props.

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

I think they are all channel a. You will ave to change teh channel yourself. This involves some pretty precise soldering, but certainly possible. You can search this forum or the AAToolbox for...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

The 1/4 inch stuff is good for use with aa guts, but I think the SL guts would be able to drive more speed and more Gs than 1/4 foam would handle well. I mounted SL guts on one of those big...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Cool. I have been building a some of these based on the Turbo Air Surfer plans that can be found on the AA Toolbox. I absolutely love these planes. The performance is amazing. I have had one of...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

I got an AA at TRU about 2 weeks ago. They said they had more on the next truck. They just finished a $20 sale.

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Does anybody know whether there is any charging circuitry ont he r/x board of an AA? Can I plug a lipo directly into the t/x to charge it, or do I need to go through the r/x?

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Thanks, guys. That is good news, because it was going to be pretty damaging to dig the r/x out and attach a new antenna. Shortening it will be a lot easier.

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Question for the experts.

I disected a brand new powerhawk to put the gear in an airframe that I built myself. As I was aranging things, the antena somehow broke off where it wraps around that...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

It could be the batteries in the t/x. They could be depleted after the winter and no longer able to charge the lipo, but can still powere the green LED.

Get them fast. I just got mine. I went to one of my local RS stores. They didn't have it, but they found one for me several miles away. There were only 3 in the district. I am not sure what a...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

I would say that this plane has its place in the well-stocked hangar of the mini electric RC plane enthusiast, but agree that it is better when a plane actually flies. I'll buy one of these when I...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

I recently completed the Pilatus 4 AA project from the AA toolbox. It is amazing. I will post photos soon. It can easily ROG. In fact, under acceleration, it pitches forward on the faux wheel so...
