RE: Don't need no stinkin' after run oil!

Easy way to settle this is to scrape some off with a knife and put it on a paper towel. Run a magnet over it and see what happens. If it jumps to the magnet it's rust,if not it's crud.

RE: Stihl 25.4cc - Looks like a good one...

Thank you for the compliment. The carb adpt, is a Zenoah 13810 kit. I had to open up the top and bottom of the intake port on the cylinder slightly to match but it was a good fit on the carb.

RE: enlarging spark plug hole

I'm real interested in how this works out for you. Please keep this going as I have a 32cc that would consider converting if you have good luck on gas glow.

RE: Source for odd size bolts?

They are indeed a self tapping screw. This is the Stihl part number and description direct from the Stihl look up.

RE: WEIRD MAGNETO PROBLEM SOLVED-Take note.

You are correct in your diagnosis. The coil has two sides. One works at low speed and the other advances for high speed. We see the high side fail from time to time and cause the same situation as...

On the cover you removed that has the pull starter there are the groups of numbers. Mod, type and code. Bring those numbers or the whole cover to your nearest small engine shop and they should be...

RE: GAS/GLOW HOW TO....

OK. Thanks for the input. It didn't look good to me but wasn't sure. I'll try a different brand of gas and see what happens. It might be the winter fuel that we have here with additives.
