RE: Blade SR - High rate or low rate

First time I took the SR up I had all the switches in the 0 positions as I would with my 400 and the DX6i. I took it up and was thinking "wow this thing is touchy, I thought it was supposed to be...

RE: Giving up on E-flight

Awesome video. My CX2 is almost as old and still going strong. It's taken so much abuse and the worst problem I ever had with it was chipped/broken rotors.

RE: New Blade 400 owner

I made sure the collar was firmly against the bearing, and there's zero up and down play in the main shaft. I'm pretty sure at this point that the gears were just made that way. Especially since the...

RE: New Blade SR: collective pitch!

I've tried these settings in my DX6i and I've also flown it with the stock radio and I can tell you that these are not even close to the settings in the stock radio. They're also damn hard to fly it...

RE: New Blade 400 owner

Been doing some research on the subject, and it seems even Horizon claims that all drive gears have some degree of wobble. I'm going to try and fly it once the gyro comes in and see what happens.

RE: New Blade 400 owner

This is just getting weirder and weirder.

I got a new main drive (with bearing) and tail gear today. After putting them both on I discovered that the brand new main drive gear has even worse a...

RE: New Blade 400 owner

Hah, I wish. I meant replacement parts for the 400. I figure I should at least know how to rebuild the heli I have (and learn how to fly it) before I move on to a t-rex.

RE: New Blade 400 owner

As tempting as that is, I really need to learn about this stuff. I want to move up to t-rex's at some point. And I've already bought most of the parts. :)

RE: New Blade 400 owner

Figured I'd have to replace those too. Also looks like the main drive gear and the retaining collar have some wobble. Ah well... add them to the list. I think I'll have rebuilt most of the heli by...

RE: New Blade 400 owner

I went over the whole heli looking for other collateral damage, and I noticed that the tail drive gear has (roughly guessing) a 2-3mm wobble going on. I've read around that a little wobble is normal,...

RE: mSR vs CB100

I'd have to concur with all of the above. The mSR is the heli you can fly whenever the mood strikes you. Just pop in a battery and go.

It flies great, somehow they made it stable and crazy fast...

RE: New Blade 400 owner

The thing is it never seemed random. It was just like if I had been leaning on the rudder while spooling up. Except I wasn't and opposite rudder would only slow it down at best. Oh well... rebuild,...

RE: New Blade 400 owner

Hmm... the HH support guy said that it wouldn't recenter immediately, but it should eventually creep back to 90. That was the last thing we tested before he said "send the gyro back." And the only...

RE: New Blade 400 owner

I'm getting HH to send me a new gyro (as soon as I send the current one in). The final decision seems to have been made because I told the guy on the phone that the servo was not centering at 90...

RE: New Blade 400 owner

I've seen the B400 flown fairly successfully, and fairly stable with the stock gyro. Seems like the gyro that came with my B400 is doing whatever it wants to. I have heard very good things about the...

RE: New Blade 400 owner

Well, it was bound to happen. Smacked my B400's main rotors into a pole, one of the rotors popped out of the pitch control linkage, came around and smacked the tail boom. Which is now bent. And the...

RE: MSR getting strange

Electric tail motors are rather notorious for failing after not a lot of time. Could be yours is going. Another thing I've read about the mSR is to check the tail motor's shaft. If there's any back...

RE: Blade MSR questions

Ah, so the D/R settings do work. Must not have been doing something right on my end... Good to hear you got it working the way you want.

RE: B400 will not slide to right

Best advice I've ever heard in this hobby is just what you said. Don't rush yourself. It can get very expensive very fast. And with heli's the size of the 400 it can get you hurt. Take it slow, have...

RE: Blade MSR questions

Clear as mud? Sorry... what I meant to say is that the mSR's dual rates are controlled by the value of channel 5. If you fly your mSR in HELI mode like I do, you have to go into the GYRO adjustment...

RE: Blade MSR questions

I think it might have something to do with the mSR's dual rates being tied to channel 5. If you've got it set in ACRO mode I believe it's the gear channel. In HELI mode it's the gyro channel. Check...

RE: B400 will not slide to right

Here we go... I believe this is part of the reason it happens (assuming no control or mechanical issues):

Pulled that off of rcheliwiki.com. That combined with the gyroscopic force of the...

RE: B400 will not slide to right

Sounds a bit like what happened to me when I got my B400 off the ground for the first time. Had to go back and check all of the radio's settings. Turns out there were 7 ticks of rudder sub trim set...

RE: B400 will not slide to right

I believe this is fairly typical of most collective pitch single rotor heli's. They want to go left until you're completely off the ground. I'm not sure what exactly causes it, but I always make sure...

RE: New Blade 400 owner

With time and experience I plan to work my way up to more aggressive rates/curves. Right now I'm just trying to build self-confidence that I'm not going to crash my new $400 toy. :D
