RE: Doctile?

Dolcile? Not really. (Hope you have Expo on your radio) :)

If you crash your balsa trainer before you get enough hours,
you might want to start out with a QHOR. It's a great SPAD Fun-Fly...

RE: wing warping = roll control...?

I was thinking about wing warping on a Zagi type SPAD, or a Delta.
I'm flying two SPA3Ds and a QHOR, and I can see why these
planes need very large control surfaces.
Warping might work well on...

RE: Mag 52FS on SPA3DT Question

I've got the Mag .52 4S on my SPA3D and use a MAS 12x6
and it works okay. Currently testing an APC 11x5 and it
seems okay so far.
I've got 5/32 wire main LG on it now and some hollow tube

RE: my first spa3d questions

Great looking plane!!

Yeah, -90% Expo might be a tad too much.
I found starting at -40 or -50% works okay.
I'm getting where I turn it off while flying
and just use it for take off and...

RE: My new spa3dt (Pics)

When I was repairing my SPA3D (bent U-channel),
I cut off the tail-wheel and replaced with a
music wire skid. The skid is plugged into the rudder
just like a tail-wheel.
I was amazed at how...

RE: .25 in .40 size plane

My GMS .32 is the same size as a .25 but runs more power.
I put it on a SPA3D and cut the wings down to 30" with about 34" of fuse.
It ZOOMs, so I'm almost sure it would fly normally/slower with...

RE: But what if you just want to go fly?

Darn it. The other stuff was locked again. (I didn't do it)!
Should be wide open now. If anyone wanted to take the
LG pics and put them on a regular site where they can
be seen with a simple...

RE: But what if you just want to go fly?

Check out the SPA32D folder at
http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/nj1a
You should get the idea.
The hard part is routing a 5/32 channel
between the two wire holes.
Push the hairpin into the...

RE: My new spa3dt (Pics)

LOL! I've posted about this very same problem.. After it happened on ALL 3 of my SPADs,
I've learned to put a stiff tube inside the fuel line to keep the clunk in the rear of the tank.
It's not...

But what if you just want to go fly?

If you are a regular SPAD reader (like me), you will know that
many of those who do NOT stick to the plans, will often post:
"What's wrong with my SPA3D (QHOR etc)"?

If a person is not...

RE: SPA3DT - Twin aileron servos -or- not??

I use a single servo on two SPA3Ds and one QHOR.
So, I've ended up with some extra servos to use on a new plane! :)

All three of my SPADs work great with one servo, I don't know
if I could...

RE: my first spa3d questions

1. That should be more than enough power.
2. Not 100% sure, but I think your tail surfaces will be more effective (If that's possible). Better set the Expo high.
3. Instead of weight, maybe you...

RE: so,,, I'm building the QHOR 40 size and....

I've got a TT46pro on my QHOR and it's more than enough power.
I've added the two 5/32"x18" music wires my wing and it seems
to make it fly better at higher speeds.
Wing flex during a hard...

RE: Quickly QHOR or SPA3D!!

The QHOR is easier to fly. A good plane for a newbie to start SPADing with.
I have one QHOR and two SPA3Ds..

I plan to build a SPA3DT, but one QHOR is enough.
Don't think I'll ever build...

RE: 5/32" alternatives on SPAD3D-40

A 36" CF or FG rod is going to cost a lot more than a 5/32 steel.
I used two 18"x5/32" music wire rods on both my 30" & 36" WS SPA3Ds.
Is 3 oz. really all that heavy?

30"ws/GMS32=3.6 lbs...

RE: QHOR 40LA Combo Review

If you liked the QHOR, you will love the SPA3D.
I've got a full sized one with a .52 Mag 4-stroke,
but made a smaller one for a GMS .32 and it's a blast!
I still fly the old QHOR (TT46Pro),...

Keep an eye on your tank

If the engine is broken in, it won't need much tweaking for
the cold until it's down in the 20s.

Many of my dead sticks were due to the fuel clunk
getting trapped in the forward part of the...

RE: SPA3Dt servo cut outs?

I wonder if my (Sears brand) Roto-Zip router would work.?.
I've got a fine bit for cutting tile that might be hard enough.

This weekend a chopper guy in my club flew his first trainer. He did the take off and landings by himself.
No training cord, but there was an IP standing beside him.

The QHOR might be a better...

RE: Tail Wheel for Spa3dt

My 36" SPA3D does not have a tail wheel any more, but it does
have a steerable wire skid :)
It's amazing how well it works. I normally don't do too well
with tail-draggers. The skid seems to...

RE: a smaller SPAD

wing with about 4 screws. It would take a few minutes to put

RE: SPAD3d-40 size

Well, I have to admit, the servos that I sanded don't look as glossy on the bottoms,
but if I wanted stuff to look neat, I would take up art instead of SPAD flying :)

For channel, go to ACE...
