RE: Saito 100- HELP PLEASE!!!

J.R., I'm right with you on all of that. I run Byrons fuel and a Hangar 9 four cycle glow plug. The first time I ran this engine I arrived at the field and realized that the only fuel I had with me...

RE: Saito 100- HELP PLEASE!!!

J.R., Thank you for working with me on this. I'm from the 2 cycle school, run it WOT almost all the time from the Norvel .049 up to the big 2 cycles so my experience with WOT on 4 cycles is limited...

RE: Saito 100- HELP PLEASE!!!

J.R., Just poking around tonight and ran across your post. I asked this question on another thread, I think in the Club Saito section, but since you have run several 100's I thought I'd ask you. I...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I'd like to apply for membership in Club SAITO. Why not! I am a 10 year Saito user. Bought a Saito 91 10 years ago, didn't read the instructions, didn't know until my recent acquisition of a new 100...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

No, I hadn't thought of that and that might just fix the problem. It makes sense. Like I said earlier, this is the first fast plane I've ever run a 4 cycle on. I'm used to pegging a 2 cycle out and...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Well, I've got a feeling you may be right. I've never flown a fast plane with a four stroke on it before. Always 2 strokes. The Saito 91 that I've been flying for 10 years is on the same Cub today...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I checked the clunk and it looks good. If I back off of FULL throttle just a shade so that the engine doesn't hit top rpm in the dive it doesn't cough. It's when it hits that max rpm that it happens....

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Hello folks. I need a little advice. I have a Saito 100 on a Hangar 9 60 Corsair. I have the low speed tuned in and I have the high speed a few hundred rpm's off of peak. This engine has about 1 1/2...

RE: Norvel AME plug

Yes, it is the RC version, brand new but with about 10-12 tanks through it now. It still has a very good top dead center pinch, holds compression very well, runs so nice I just am not going to give...

RE: Norvel AME plug

Well guys, I've done a little more tinkering since the last time I posted. First of all, Larry, the inside of the AME is silver so it is not a Revlite. It may be an older one, I don't know. It has...

RE: Norvel AME plug

I may actually do that, just for kicks, and see if there is any difference. It will be a very tightly controlled experiment. I used to set up Designed Experiments for a major tire company in a...

RE: Norvel AME plug

Hmmm...Never thought about that. The BigMig is on the front end of a Herr Texan with no cowling on it at the time I put this prop on it. It had 15% nitro in the tank, the AME on the board had 25%.

RE: Norvel AME plug

Larry, I'm not sure what it is. Here are a few pics.

I have run into the tight shaft thing before on a BigMig that was discussed here a while back. This one doesn't really seem to be tight...

RE: Norvel AME plug

Ahhh!!! Ok guys, that's what I was trying to find out. So hopefully, as I go down in prop size the AME should overtake the BigMig and the glow plug really has nothing to do with it. Now that I know...

RE: Norvel AME plug

So out of the box the AME doesn't really have anything on the Big Mig? That's what I am seeing and it seems to be what I'm hearing. Actually, unless it picks up with more running it is going to be...

RE: Norvel AME plug

Thanks, Dave. Do you know if I go to the 5x3, should the AME turn it faster than the Big Mig? The Big Mig is turning the 5.5x3 faster than the AME right now. Is that right or is it because I am not...

RE: Norvel AME plug

Thanks, VG. I actually have that setup in my box but I've never tried it. I have some of the Freedom plugs and I have four of the flat top plugs that I would like to use. I just wondered if anyone...

Norvel AME plug

I have read everything in the Norvel thread looking for this answer and can't find it. I have a new Norvel AME .061 that has been on the shelf for a long time, saving it for something special. I am...

RE: Norvel .074

I know. I went back yesterday when things started to get really spirited and read my first post to see what I was even talking about. The bent rod happened on down in the message string somewhere.

cp, I couldn't see anything on top of the piston but pictures usually bring things out so I snapped a few. The two clean, bright pictures are with the piston at tdc and nothing really gets your...

RE: Norvel .074

To wrap up the .074 bent rod problem, I took the little extra out today with the repaired engine mounted, fired it up and flew two tanks through it WOT. No problem and everything seems back to...

RE: Norvel .074

DT, I'm not sure what caused it but that could be it, and trying to turn that big APC prop. I always wonder if the engine can take that kind of punishment but the little .061's turn so fast that I...

RE: Norvel .074

Well don't you love it when a plan comes together? I got the rod out, looks to me like I got it straight as a pin with my nylon head light hammer. Got it staked back in successuflly, oiled it up and...

RE: Norvel .074

That should work great. The drill bit idea is really good. On the other pistons I have looked at they just had the pin staked in at two places. This one is staked in at four and on some of the other...

RE: Norvel .074

Just so as to not look more ignorant than necessary, all those times I mentioned wrist pin in that last post, I was talking about the rod. Just wanted to clear that up.

Have you guys had...
