RE: Carbon fibre/tape questions - how to lighten foam wings.

What give a wing strength is the spar not the foam. The foam basically adds shape and stabilizes the spar. The sheeting ties the whole wing together to give it strength. Is the wing one piece or in...

RE: Powerbox 40/24 1 receiver or 2

Mike,

I would prefer to use one receiver since another receiver is an additional failure point. A lot of guys use the two receivers on 40% planes in order to split the servo load over more than...

Powerbox 40/24 1 receiver or 2

I am considering using the duralite version in my 50% scale plane. Has anyone used this with 2 receivers. Most of the literature I have read only uses 1 receiver. Any feedback is appreciated.

I've used cermark brand extensions and the hobbico pro line both seem to work fine for giant scale applications.

RE: How do you choose a servo?

I choose servos based on the type of application and cost. For a standard sport plane I usually will choose a ball bearing servo that puts out 40-50 oz of torque. The hitec 425bb is a good example of...

RE: Help me buy servo's!!!!

I would use the
5645 on ailerons and elevator
5945 on rudder
standard servo on throttle (I like hitec 425bb)

Use good quality 20g or 22g extensions. Use the hitec programmer for maximum...

Before making any recommendation, what are the specs on the plane? How large is the wingspan..etc. I would choose the servos depending on the size of the surface and how aggressive your flying...

RE: can i trust hitech 700 servos on D.P edge? - please help

I would agree the 5645 or 5945 would be a much better choice than the 700. The 700 is a 1/4 scale servo that would probably be better suited for a scale model like a cub.
You want to keep the...

RE: Double-beveling, anything wrong with using tri-stock?

RE: Can anyone post a picture of the Wet Pint Drops look?

I don't think this would be that difficult to paint. I would make up some test pieces before I actually painted the model. I'd probably cover the entire wing in yellow ultracote. Then cut a...

RE: how to set up ailerons for 2 servos

This is a relatively easy task. You first mount the servos in the wing panel. You can then run the wires through a small cardboard tube or through holes in the ribs. Place a small hole in the wing...

RE: 96 extra recovering covette to monokote

For balsa sheeted foam I like one of the low temperature polyester covering such as oracover(from hobby lobby) or ultracote. They are easy to apply and you don't risk melting the foam beneath the...

RE: If K&S Engineering doesn't have it, I guess it doesn't exist?

Mcmaster carr has 3/4"OD,.049 wall ,.652" ID tubing for 9.15 for 3 feet. This should slip over your muffler pipes. Since you only need maybe 6" of pipe for each extension I don't think this will add...

RE: Aluminum to lite ply adhesive?

I would use epoxy. I believe that Bob Violett sells an epoxy that he recommends for building his jets. Some type of aerospace grade epoxy. Personally I use west system epoxy but BV knows jets.
