RE: AirWild 29% Edge 540T has arrived!

Add me to the club, I ordered my 29% edge from Jerry yesterday along with a DA-50 from Desert Aircraft. I'll be getting busy here in a week putting things together. I did have a question for anyone...

RE: 1.60 carb mod project

Well, after a very long time away from this project, I am just now getting back to finishing up the airframe and getting the radio installed. I hope to be mounting the engine soon and I ordered the...

RE: 40% GILES WITH A 120 ?

I realize that this post might be a little late, however a few years ago when the Carden Giles 300 was in it's "hayday" I had one with a DA 150 on a 32x10 that I found using the computer mixing in my...

RE: Sig Hog-Bipe kit.

At the moment, I have a 5 cell, 2500 mah nimh battery pack stuffed into the little pocket behind the servo location under the push rods to balance the hog bipe between the 30% and 35% balance point...

RE: Sig Hog-Bipe kit.

Update:

Had a chance this weekend to put a couple flights in on the new engine combo and all I can say is WOW! What a difference the 100 makes. It was just the kick in the pants the pig needed...

RE: Sig Hog-Bipe kit.

I just finished up a Sig Pig myself and used a number of mods found on this thread. I started with a Saito .72 that I had on a 40 size profile and that engine did a fairly good job of getting the...

RE: 1.60 carb mod project

Hi Guys,

At the moment everything is still sitting exactly where I put it since my last post. The weather has gone bad around here and so has my ambition to do anything else until closer to...

RE: 1.60 carb mod project

I’ve been told a number of times now the baby Edge has plenty of clearance for a 20 inch prop, so I just ordered one and now that the weather has turned cold around here, if I get a clear day I...

RE: 1.60 carb mod project

The Menz 18 x 8 is what I am running on this engine at the moment. I intend to try a Mejzlik 20 x 6 once I am sure I have ground clearence.

RE: 1.60 carb mod project

This past Saturday I put an additional ¾ gallon of fuel through the engine. I added a bypass line at the carb between the pump and carb to reduce line pressure that was making the carb way too rich....

RE: 1.60 carb mod project

Had a chance this past Saturday to run ¾ gallon of fuel through the engine for initial break in without any problems. The original set up did not use muffler pressure and it was obvious that the...

RE: 1.60 carb mod project

I kinda figured Bob would chime in there when Jett was mentioned! :D

MVVS has a 1.80 gas out now at 3.25 lbs. no prop data yet...

RE: 1.60 carb mod project

I’m not acquainted with the MVVS line of engines gas or glow, but I would have to think that anything close to a tuned pipe would be better that a muffler or open exhaust. Might have to shoot Dub...

RE: 1.60 carb mod project

Granted that the tuned pipe effect that the Jett is designed for will give an added boost at WOT but not much at ½ throttle, that’s why I want to fly a 20” wood prop for the thrust at hover...

RE: 1.60 carb mod project

I agree, the hovering environment will be the real test to the set up I have in mind. With a minimum amount of air entering the cowl at ½ throttle in a hover, that midrange will be very critical....

RE: 1.60 carb mod project

If I end up and have a nuclear melt down from this project, I have no one to blame but myself. I’m willing to sacrifice the cost into this engine and related materials to prove to myself that the...

RE: 1.60 carb mod project

I can appreciate the concept that manufactures have to take when offering different levels or grades in their products to suite the price ranges of us buying public but, I wish OS would have...

RE: 1.60 carb mod project

I considered the set screw method the first time around and if I had it to do over again I think that would be the way to go over drilling and tapping the neck of the carb. My first attempt got the...

RE: 1.60 carb mod project

Thanks guys for your additional input on other carb options. I did consider simpler carbs to keep the cost down, however I wanted to have the ability to get an overly rich midrange to play with...

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

Hay Tom,

Speaking of incidence, I assume the baby Edge uses 0 degrees on the wings and elevators and only right thrust on the engine, no down thrust. If you where to draw a line down the fuse...

RE: 1.60 carb mod project

My schedule at the moment is to at least get the engine broken in on a test stand and begin with the vp-30 testing and carb adjustments for a base line by or before it gets too cool outside. I’m...
