I agree! I've been using the MACS muffler on my Evo 10cc since about February without issue. I have 3+ gallons thru it and it is running strong. The max RPMs I have gotten with a 13x4 APC is ~14900....

RE: Hangar 9 Meridian 10cc build thread with Evolution 10cc gasser engine

The quality of the ARF is very good, but the nose gear steering arm & wheel collar are crap. It stripped out after a couple of easy landings. I replaced it with a stronger one and it worked just...

RE: New Evolution 10cc gas engine

dbar,

On a 12x6 APC in the pits at WOT, I get low/mid 12000s, in the air I get routinely mid/upper 13000s and coming out of a shallow dive setting up for a high speed pass the max I've seen was...

RE: New Evolution 10cc gas engine

My 2d and 3rd gallons are 25:1 with Klotz synthetic. Less "goo" and I have a 12x6 with upper 13000-lower 14000 RPMs.

RE: New Evolution 10cc gas engine

All I can go by is the max RPM readout on my DX-8 tlm system. It is within ~30-40 RPMs of my handheld tachometer so I have confidence in its readouts. I have the max RPM alarm set for 14000 and...

RE: New Evolution 10cc gas engine

I am using the MACs 6720 muffler, but that didn't give it a noticable performance boost.

RE: New Evolution 10cc gas engine

Interesting... I also had to change out the spark plug this weekend. My only complaint is the $13 price tag for a new plug! The engine was bullet proof till the last two weekends then it just...

RE: New Evolution 10cc gas engine

I have this engine and love it! I have plenty of other glow OS, YS, K&B, Blue Bird, Magnum and ST engines and DLE & OS gassers. Except for my OS 33, this is my favorite sport engine, but you cannot...

RE: Hangar 9 Meridian 10cc build thread with Evolution 10cc gasser engine

I tried the MACs muffler from my OS 55AX when the engine was relatively new and had horrible results. I went back to the stock muffler till I had about a gallon of gas through it. The MACs muffler...

RE: Testing the new NV (Norvel) .40 size (6.5cc) gasoline glow engine

Don't forget about the lead weights they sell for balancing our models! Bad! Bad! Bad! I switched to stainless steel weights several years ago.

RE: New Evolution 10cc gas engine

I also had isues with the fuel nipple coming loose and leaking air. When I tried to tighten it up for the 3rd time, the threaded part broke off in the carb. I eventually had to drill it out and...

Yes, the included tank, stopper, filter, and viton tubing are all rated for gas.

RE: New Evolution 10cc gas engine

I use the MACs 6720 and have not had any temperature issues. I'm using the DX8 w/telemetry system to monitor temp, volts, and RPMs.

RE: New Evolution 10cc gas engine

That's what I thought too, but they claim 18000 RPMs as the upper limit. I'd personally be afraid of being anywhere near a standard prop turning that fast. Kind of goes into the same category of...

RE: New Evolution 10cc gas engine

I have about 2 gallons of gas thru it so far and I'm getting a little more than 14000 in the air with an APC 13x4 on a SIG Somethin' Extra. I had 15000 with a 10x6 before, but that wasn't enough...

RE: Hangar 9 Meridian 10cc build thread with Evolution 10cc gasser engine

I had no problems with the tank set up or the felt clunk.

I really liked the Meridian and the 10cc combination! It does float on landing and the flaps really help. I think I used about 12%...

RE: New Evolution 10cc gas engine

I cannot wait for the 15 to come out! I have a Skybolt that would be great for a power plant that size. I'd order one on the first day of availability, but CINC HOUSE would shoot me. I just bought...

RE: New Evolution 10cc gas engine

Back on Page 17, Post 417, I showed pictures of what my engine looked like after about 2/3 gallon of gas. Luckily, it doesn't look even the same as this one! I have about 2 gallons thru my engine...

RE: New Evolution 10cc gas engine

Engine run time is the solution. Except for the fisrt several minutes setting up the needles and minor pit time associated with each flight, all of my engine run time is in the air. After the first...

RE: New Evolution 10cc gas engine

The MACs is a bolt thru muffler. I used red RTV on the original muffler body parts to seal it and a small o-ring on the bolt that goes through the muffler. That kept it from leaking from the middle...

RE: New Evolution 10cc gas engine

I am using the black MACs muffler that is designed for the OS 55AX. It is an exact fit and it works fairly well, with a 200-300 RPM increase over the stock muffler (in my case anyway). It softens...
