RE: crystal question

Tony knows his stuff. He probably has the largest RC radio repair shop outside of Hobby Services.

DC stands for "Dual Conversion" BTW. Any crystal you buy that is designed for your RX in...

RE: crystal question

A jump to/from 24-46 is out of spec according to the mfg. There's a reason for that, I'm sure, and it's not just to make more money in the service center.. (That's not a profit center for them) I...

RE: how to secure rx and batteries pack in the plane.

Something similar works very well for me also. I'll take tiny eye bolts from Home depot (8 pack of about .25" ID for $.79 or so), and open them up to J hooks. Then screw these into stringers or...

RE: Flaperons on an Avistar - DONT

You're right, didn't realize that ailerons come all the way inboard on an avistar. Chuck

RE: Flaperons on an Avistar - DONT

Flaperons are a bad idea on most RC airplanes.

When you deploy flaperons, you are increasing the angle of attack on the outboard portion of the wing relative to the inboard portion. This means...

RE: Need help tuning my OS 61RF-P

I don't think pipe tuning is going to fix it if it has problems idling. If you want to eliminiate pipe tuning issues, run it on the header only to tune initially. Won't make the neighbors happy,...

YS 50?

Dave, any thoughts on if/when the YS 50 ST might be available in USA? If you're under NDA, sorry for asking. Heli guys are excited. Chuck

RE: OS 1.60's

Sorry, just realized I gave you wrong thread count with AN bolts. Welded glow plug should do trick however.. Chuck

RE: OS 1.60's

Eric, Aircraft grade bolts are 28 thread. You are looking for an AN 4 (1/4" bolt). Many many bolt patterns and sizes to choose from.

You could also weld shut a glow plug and make a true plug...

140 Sport Issues

Bought a 140 sport about a year ago. The engine never would run right, was slobbering rich on the bottom end. It would even do this with the regulator all the way in and low speed all the way out. ...

RE: 2 meter length, where is that measured from?

Imagine a box that measures exactly 2M on each end. Your plane must fit inside of this box with no part sticking out, wingspan parallel to one side of the box.

RE: First Attempt at CA hinges??

Syringes are probably overkill. Go to your LHS and get some of the CA tip extenders. They're about 1 1/2 inches long and give you good control. For the hinge, cut the covering and make a little...

RE: WHO WANTS A FREE SKYLARK ARF?

Well, being right here in Nashville, I'd take it over to Edwin Warner and use it to chase all of the Wingos and other park flyers off! :D (KIDDING).. I learned how to fly on Hobby Lobby planes,...

RE: Which Incidence Meter should I Buy?

I'll throw in a vote for the GP level. I had used the Robart for years. Eventually the needle got stiff and wouldn't give a good reading. I have the GP now. The scale is bigger, the laser rides...

RE: Fixed landing gear for Tai-Ji 60

Bolly .60 size f3a swept. Will drop in right in front of the wing. You'll have to cut the belly pan a bit and reinforce the fuse floor a little. I had a Tai Ji and bought the gear to convert. ...

RE: Tuned pipe & header advice for OS 160 Fx?

Flyintexan:

I flew a focus with the exact setup that you mentioned: OS 1.60 / hatori header / greve pipe / cline regulator with gator mount. Once I learned to put the cline *behind* the needle...

RE: Venus 40 empennage controls?

The setup isn't sexy, but it works. Put a slight z bend in one of the pushrods to get the 2 next to each other so they move without binding, and you'll be fine. Put a little locktite on the set...

RE: Beginner Pattern Plane

2 rolls, did your venus really end up almost 8 lb? I have one stock with OS 70II and huge 1800 nicad, and it came out a little less than 5 1/2?? Typo?? If that's not a typo, and it's stock, I'd...

RE: Barrrel Rool - How to

Barrel roll is a non-axial roll. If the axis of a roll is the center of the "barrel," the rolling action of the plane follows the perimeter of the barrel.

If you wanted to barrel roll to the...

RE: Patternship wing Root LE vs Tip LE

If the LE's at the root and tip are different, what may be going on is that the original design has blended airfoils. If both of your ARFs are like this, I don't know that I'd call it a construction...

RE: Made your Zen or Tai-Ji fixed gear?

I planned to on my Tai Ji 60, but sold it before I got around. Here were the plans:

Bolly .60 size F3a swept gear and pants were to be mounted on the belly just in front of thw wing just like...

RE: Venus 40 and Aresti 40

I'm on my 2nd now. W/ OS 70 it flies very well. The quality of my 2nd was pretty good, but I have to say that the first one was much_much better. Several ounces lighter, straighter, and the fit /...

One kind of cline regulator. Can be ordered direct from Jim Cline. Don't have the www address handy but it should be easy to find on Google.

As for the wraparound header... hatori makes it, so...

I'm thinking 2 cyclic servos - left / right mixed to rudder, up down mixed to elevator. 3rd servo collective mixed to throttle. Or go the CCPM (?) route with several (6-9?) mixes to link to the...
