In What Country Are Futaba Radios Manufactured?

Looking at the new Futaba 2.4GHz FASST 6EX radio at the LHS, I looked at the back of the radio and noticed the now-common "Made in China" sticker. In what country are the other models of Futaba...

RE: mounting servos how tight?

Jim - No, sir, tighten against the brass eyelet. The shaft of the brass eyelet sets the correct screw height after tightening; the rubber grommet auto-compresses slightly. In other words, WITHOUT...

RE: mounting servos how tight?

Jim - I assume you installed a rubber grommet and brass eyelet in each mounting lug molded into the servo case, yes? Tighten each screw until it's tight and no more (you'll twist/break off a screw if...

Spektrum AR7000 Antenna Separation/Extension

I want to install the AR7000 receiver system in a 1.5" wide wooden sailplane fuselage. For best range, I assume the AR7000 antennas must extend straight out from the main receiver case. Therfore I...

RE: Is your glider 2.4 GHz Friendly?

Admittedly, I have not searched the forums for an answer to this question, so forgive my laziness... I primarily fly wood TD sailplanes and 95% fiberglass (localized - base of the T-tail and wing...

RE: My Very First Kit

In case you don't want to spend high dollars on small quantities of debonder, acetone melts CA. It is toxic for sure, so use it in a well-ventilated area!

The Four Star is a great kit and a...

RE: MonoKote vs Ultracote??

Ultracote all the way! Follow the directions (i.e., don't try to apply it like Monokote... gee, ask me why I know so much about that topic...?). Goes over sheeted surfaces with ease. No need to use...

RE: First Giant, Four Star 120 with a Ryobi 31cc Gasser

Matt - If you want flaps, you should install flaps. They are effective and they will shorten your landing approach and rollout. Once you set-up the elevator compensation, its a lot of fun to extend...

RE: First Giant, Four Star 120 with a Ryobi 31cc Gasser

Yup, 40%. I hinged them so they would extend 90 degrees... VERY effective airbrakes. To tell you the truth, given the option, I would not go through the hassle again. I never used the flaps to land....

RE: First Giant, Four Star 120 with a Ryobi 31cc Gasser

FlyBoy - I built a Four Star 120 a few years ago to aerotow sailplanes and I installed flaps. As you know, the existing strip ailerons are tappered; if you simply cut the existing strip aileron you...
