RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Did some winter flying today. It was about -10 C, not too bad! :) The wind was pretty strong!

Here's a video of it!

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

Align, Dualsky, E-flite, Common Sense, E-power, Dn Power, and others use the JST XH. I am assuming that Parkzone would use the same as E-flite.

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

I believe it's a JST-XH. Can anyone confirm this?

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

For sure!

I'm eager to see how other have mounted other motors. I keep wondering if I should start from scratch again.

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

I'm from Calgary myself.

Yeah, I'm thinking a three blade prop might end up being the best compromise between ground clearance and thrust with the 480 on the Trojan. The scale looks don't hurt...

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

I'm looking forward to seeing the pics!

I have the 1020 custom mounted as well but I haven't flown it yet because I'm waiting on some other parts. Your review of it's performance has me itching...

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

Looks great, Gader! Those pictures definitely give me some ideas for my own.

Did you happen to take any measurements of how thick your mount is?

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

Haven't gotten that far yet. I'll see how far off it is first...I might just be able to move up the receiver. If that doesn't do it I'll likely add weight to the firewall.

As far as the power,...

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

Incase anyone was wondering, here is a picture showing the size difference between the stocker and an E-flite Park 480.

So far I'm planning to make up the difference between the motors and...

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

Could someone please tell me the height (off of the firewall) of the motor mount? Mine is busted. I'm planning to make a mount for a Park 480.

If anyone else has mounted non-parkzone motors,...

RE: Drop in replacement motor for t28 trojan?

It does stink. They also don't offer a seperate firewall. For that you need the entire fuselage. Arg.

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

Boo. I hope they come out with a replacement part soon. It seams odd to me they'd spec a part not already produced.

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

Bigtone, I had seen that post but since neither of those two shafts appear to be the right one I was hoping someone here had reached a more definitive answer. I have an e-mail in to Parkzone,...

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

Does anyone know what motor shaft fits the included motor? The specs say is a 480, but the shaft looks different than the 480 shafts on e-flite's site. It is an e-flite motor, no?

Thanks

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

That seams to be where the issue was. The set screw was on the flat spot, but reassembling the unit greatly reduced the shakes.

Thanks!

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

I swapped it out for the included spare...same result. I'll try the APC I have on the Super Cub.

Edit... Tried the APC with the same result. However, it looks like the vibration sounded a lot...

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

Does anyone else have a T-28 that starts to vibrate at about half throttle? It seams to die down at higher throttle levels. I think that my motor shaft might have come bent. [:o]

Thanks

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

I got one a few days back. This was my second plane, the first being a super cub. Seams like a really good next step for Cub owners.

Here's the maiden video.

RE: My RC18 MT setup. Come look.

Those prices are Canadian...and the advantage is that Great Hobbies is a LHS for him.

Still, BPP has free international shipping and arguably better stuff for about the same cost if not cheaper.
