I have two 48" extensions in my Bingo electric glider. This puts two of the remote receivers in the V-tail, away from the carbon fiber fuselage. They work perfectly. I agree with the others,...

RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet

I wonder how much runway it takes to lift off?
...or if it even WOULD liftoff of a grass field?

RE: Spektrum DX18

I don't know much about the new JR XG series. As best I can tell their modulation system (DMSS) is very similar to DSMX but is not compatible with it. If you have a lot of Spektrum receivers, old...

RE: Spektrum DX18

Go with the DX-18. I'm not aware of any screen glitches.

The 12x is an excellent transmitter but it is beginning to show its age in terms of features. It doesn't have a lot of the things...

RE: Spektrum DX18

You need to do it one at a time. During the binding the Tx and Rx are exchanging information. If you have two Rx's trying to communicate with one Tx at the same time the data flow will get garbled...

RE: Spektrum DX18

No problem at all with two DSMX receivers as long as they are the same for the other parameters I mentioned in my earlier post.

RE: Spektrum DX18

Both receivers should be exactly the same. There are exceptions to that rule, but problems can easily arise if there are differences.
During binding check the readout on the DX-18. Does it say...

RE: Spektrum DX18

It is quite possible to do it provided both receivers have the same specs. Bind to one first, turn it off, and bind to the second. You will run into problems if the DSMX/DSM2 mode, 1024/2048 bit...

RE: Spektrum DX18

Good question. I've wondered the same thing. I'm sure it would fit in this one, but the foam cutouts might not be right.

RE: Spektrum DX18

That's a nice "work around" to know about! It's certainly not intuitively obvious and I'd suspect (hope!) that this gets changed in one of the upcoming software upgrades, so that going into 12-ch...

RE: Spektrum DX18

You can only transfer setups, either with an SD card or a cable when the two radios are exactly the same brand and the same model. If you think about it that makes sense because otherwise there...

RE: Spektrum DX18

Spektrum DSM of any type (old DSM, DSM2, DSMX) uses direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) which produces a wide band (spread spectrum) signal that is quite different from the "hopping" narrow band...

RE: Elan Has Arrived!

I agree electrics are the future. That said, I've had no problems with the ProLink air up / air down gear. If you go this route, adding the TamJet failsafe pressure switch (drops gear if pressure...

RE: Spektrum DX18

Look again.
On the right of the page, it says "Find a Retailer Near You:" Under that is a line where you enter your zip code, and under that says "Due late July 2012"

Thanks, John. That was very specific and helpful info. !
Best wishes and I hope to see you at SEFF. I'll be hanging around with Rojo as usual, trying to keep him out of trouble.

RE: Spektrum DX18

OK, thanks!
By "lower resolution" I assume you mean 1024 bits? That sounds like a non-issue since the low-resolution channels can be used for things like retracts, brakes or flaps.

With the...

RE: Spektrum DX18

John,

Can you answer a question for me? Apologies if it's already been asked and answered.

Will the DX18 work with all 12 channels on a JR/Spektrum 12 channel DSMX receiver?
...or will...

RE: Elan Has Arrived!

I agree. Sorry if I wasn't clear before. If they're wing tanks, they're generally in parallel and gravity / positive G's keeps the fuel draw more or less even between the two (unless you fly around...

RE: Elan Has Arrived!

Avoid real carbon fiber if you can, esp. directly under the receiver! It absorbs 2.4 GHz signals and can cause problems. The contact paper on top of plywood looks great and doesn't absorb 2.4 GHz.

RE: Elan Has Arrived!

I agree. The split tank is the way to go. I have mine running a JetCat P120 and there's plenty of fuel, since most of the flying is at significantly less than full bore. If you decided that you...
