RE: outrigger

I would suggest the following.
Fiegao 7XL or an equivalent from HK. The pink/red motors are ok.
I now have a 6XL that will go for a spin in my 26" tub rigger.

Mystery 200A from E-bay with...

RE: outrigger advice

You can use the KB 45 but be aware that they are know as amp hogs and in fact would be overkill for this boat.
You will be as well off with a Fiegao 7XL or an equivalent from HK. The pink/red...

RE: Problem with Outrigger?

I have used plastic octura with a lot mixed results. At 40mph they tend to come apart on me. 40krpm does that too.
In fact I have done the same to the Cu/Be octura props too, that is what pushing...

RE: Problem with Outrigger?

I will disagree here. A rear ride pad has some benefits but is not essential.
Neither of my riggers have them. They launch out of the hole perfectly and run very well. For race water a rear ride...

RE: outrigger

28"from sponson tip to to transom or a 28" tub.
A photo will help if you can put one up.

For a kick-off you will be looking at a XL Fiegao as a minimum size motor.
You can go 4S to 6S with...

RE: first scratch build

To clarify the terms.
Flex is the "normal" twisted wire thing that many folk use.

Wire drive is the solid piano/music wire. 0.062 or 1/16" is a common size. Few use smaller and big power...

RE: 26in predator outrugger help

I am keen to help
Riggers are fun and that is why I now have two. Both drawn and built by me.

The tub size you have is almost exactly the same as my bigger rigger which is on 4S power and...

RE: esc explosion

Don't sweat it. I'm cool. ;)

It is a bummer that you found out the hard smokey way that the esc was not up to the job. Bad call by the seller / vendor.
If one other person can learn from this...

RE: esc explosion

I have read the other thread and I will clarify that, at no point did I suggest that you are "nuts"

I stated that these esc's all will function out of the packet quite well and that there are...

RE: Catamaran single or twin drives?

I have been in this postion a few times so I know the questions to ask.

Do I want run time or speed..........chose 1
Oval or SAW..........can be adjusted but best to chose 1
Records or...

RE: esc explosion

The pic you posted looks a lot like a Mystery / Himodel / Swang ESC to me. I have all three so I have a clue here. They are all the same beast, just a different shrink wrap and decal.
Of the ones...

RE: large brushless cat project

Yeah we all have our dramas with fleabay.

Well I have not yet. I have 3 Mystery controllers in the fleet now and I love them. Cheap, rtr out of the packet. o.k I have to fit my connectors but...

RE: Catamaran single or twin drives?

A few things here.
If in doubt on the run times suggested then read post #14.....then ask the owner. Kevin is a nice guy and will answer questions.

If you are to run a big cat that is 36"+...

RE: Catamaran single or twin drives?

If you are going to go with a HPR 06 or any quality large cat hull then twins are a must. :D

This is for the simple reason that if you have spent that much on a hull then do not skimp on the...

RE: smoked super vee

I can see a few problems just from your brief description

"adapters that went from deans to tamiya to the bats" You have too many connections for a start and Tamiya connectors are for low power...

RE: Rigger questions....help

You are on to it now. If you have a 380 that will fit then use it.
Hobby city / Hobby King do not do the Fiegao can anymore but they have a lot of motors that will suit you.
Do not get hung up on...

RE: Rigger questions....help

You can put it in yours, I would not put it in mine. It is a little small. The 28mm dia is not the issue, it is the length too. That motor will not have good torque.
I would suggest a 36mm dia (540...

RE: Rigger questions....help

Greg is quite right to a point. Rear sponsons/shoes are a bit of a fickle thing. When they work perfectly the strut heightis just right. Think about that for a minute, to get the strut height just...

RE: 24''Wildthing Build...first time builder

I run my rudder on the right as with most monos, it still turns left ok.
You will not get a surface drive boat to turn equally well both ways as the prop walk will always make it turn better right....

67" cat on electric . Go for it.
This will not be a low cost exercise.

It was mentioned above that RumRunnerRacing is the forum to go to for powering a large cat. That is true
OSE,...

RE: 24''Wildthing Build...first time builder

Have brass and can solder ??
Here is one of mine . This is on my 4S Rigger.....Ignore the prop as it was there as part of my measuring.
There is a square tube on the outside to give me a flat botom...

RE: Norbert's 1.1m balsa cat build

Norbert.
I will watch and help where I can.
My next build of a Cat will be a twin drive, no surprise there. It will however be small, about 20 inch long with Mystery style heli motors. This is to...
