RE: What would you do

Actually, they never had it in a newsletter that this fail-safe mandatory rule was even going to be presented at the meeting. 6 members at the meeting out of 35 total members is not a very fair vote...

RE: What would you do? Please read.....

The way They put it is, If your plane goes out of control at least it won't be at full throttle! I'm sure my little 5 lb plane would do a lot less damage than their 37% to 40%er's would but it's ok...

RE: What would you do? Please read.....

I've never lost a plane do to any glitches or batteries going dead on me, never!

They say the fail-safes...

RE: What would you do? Please read.....

If I get a fail-safe on my plane and it malfunctions and runs into one of the 37% to 40%er's on the ground I sure hope they don't try to blame Me fot it! :)

RE: What would you do? Please read.....

The Last Word!

All because of a Safety Rule?

The 2 guys with the big airplanes that pushed the issue have been know to fly their 37% to 40% planes with the big DA 150's on them swinging...

RE: What would you do? Please read.....

Actually, I'll be saving all that money I'd be spending on fail-safes and also $58 for AMA and another $50 for club dues. I have a large field just 3 blocks away from me that I can fly anytime I want...

RE: What would you do? Please read.....

I'm just going to find me another place to fly rather than spend all that extra money I'd have to spend to update all my planes!

Case closed!

Thanks for your replies.

RE: What would you do? Please read.....

YES, and most clubs do not make it mandatory to use them on your planes.

So why should the rinky dink club I am in have to make it mandatory?

RE: What would you do? Please read.....

I already told them at the next meeting we had about AMA not going to cover accidents if a fale-safe malfunctioned.

The reply from the club members that were at the next meeting was...AMA is...

RE: What would you do? Please read.....

I did a poll back in may when this issue came up at out field about the using fail-safes and the outcome was already 19-2 in favor of NOT using the fail-safes.

RE: What would you do? Please read.....

I called AMA and they said their Insurance would not cover an accident if a person was using a fail-safe gadget that malfunctioned and caused a crash. Therefore, any persons injured in an accident...

RE: What would you do? Please read.....

I think the 2 guys are just upset that we have the cheaper little planes and have as much fun with ours , if not more than they do with the $4,000 to $6000 each they have in theirs!

RE: What would you do? Please read.....

What do you do when you are flying inverted 5 feet above the deck and all of a sudden a glitch occurs which is supposed to kick in the fail safe and your plane goes into the ground since it went back...

RE: What would you do? Please read.....

No spotters are ever used in this club!

I think they just want to feel like they have "Power" in the club since they have the large planes!

But, you NEVER see the 2 that are pushing the...

RE: What would you do? Please read.....

I think they are trying to weed out the ones that don't have a computer radio or fail-safes already installed so they will have more airtime for their Big Planes!

They don't like it when smaller...

RE: What would you do? Please read.....

There was no reason for the issue to even be brought up other than for "safety" reasons.

The 2 pushing the issue fly 37% and 40% size planes right over the neighbors house and over his property...

RE: What would you do? Please read.....

No one in the club has had their batteries go dead in mid-air and there have never been any fly-a-ways! Any crashes were usually pilot error.

I've been flying for 35 years and my batteries have...

RE: What would you do? Please read.....

It was brought up at the next meeting with about 10 members attending there and the main 2 that were pushing the issue said it's already been voted on and that's the way it's going to be!

What would you do

What would you do if your club made it mandatory for you to have a "fail-safe" gadget on all of your planes? When the club voted on it there were only 6 people at the meeting with 29 other members...
