Scott, I used Aux2 channel for gyro gain, not sure whether it is the same as gear channel.

Ops, I forgot to mention that the heli is actually off when I took that picture. The swashplate is leveled quite well at 0-50-100 pitch.

I use the Align main shaft that come with the metal rotor head. One day I will try if the BH shaft can fit in this rotor head, of course I hope it can be used. Oh ya, the Align trex450 landing...

congrats for your nose in... that's big step! ;)
For your tail wagging in idle mode, why not you try to set the gyro gain -65%, fly and check whether the tail still wag.

what is your switch setting, GEAR > GEAR or GEAR > GYRO?
Can you set the throttle curve to 0 for idle mode, on your heli and flip to idle mode, check whether your gyro is in rate mode or HH...

Just checked dx6 tx manual, i believe GER is the gyro sensitivity setting. Gyro gain -100% definitely not a good setting (at least to me), you can set it to +65% same as your...
