RE: Safety Violations

Doc,
I didn't get that KC was directing any of this at you directly at all. I think he was merely pointing out something he had seen as an example and indicative of a wider problem. I think he...

RE: phoenix models yak 54

We were flying 2 of these this weekend, one with a 55ax the other with a 46ax.
Once both of them were set-up correctly the 55 clearly out powered the 46 and had way more torque - 12x7 prop on the 55...

RE: phoenix models yak 54

You may want to see about trimming the cowl around the carb a little. Or you may want to provide additional air exits to the rear of the cowl. Sometimes the air pressure can build in the cowl and...

RE: phoenix models yak 54

I had to use the rubber bands for the fuel tank to hold my battery because the plane was tail heavy. I think out of the box with the 46 of 55 it is a good bit tail heavy, but you shouldn't have to...

RE: phoenix models yak 54

I actually do have to mess with the low end on my .55ax every now and then - ditto on my .46.
You know you are running too rich on the low end it you set it to idle and let it run for about 10-20...

RE: phoenix models yak 54

Have fun! I wouldn't recommend the Phoenix Yak for too much 3D action - IMAC to a degree but not beyond basic. I say this because the Yak 54 from Phoenix has very short elevator controls. It makes it...

RE: phoenix models yak 54

The wings are easily removable. So now worries there. I even built custom wing bags for them. I transport the plane, kit, fuel and everything in the back of my Hyundai Tiburon with no problem.-

RE: P-38 Ziroli designed, built and aluminum plated by Metal-morphous

Man! You guys are some of the coolest most laid back people in any thread I've ever followed. Very cool. Great to see such great examples of the hobby and the people that love it.

RE: phoenix models yak 54

With a 55ax I'm guessing that the Yak is a bat outta hell. With my .46AX it can really move.

RE: Nitroplanes 90" P-38 (1/7 scale) with 3 piece wing and more

Thanks much on the response and I'm terribly sorry for your loss. Hard to enjoy anything when you're greiving - it all turns to ash.
I trust you are doing well now and look forward to following...

RE: Nitroplanes 90" P-38 (1/7 scale) with 3 piece wing and more

At $215 I'm strongly considering this plane from Nitroplanes, but would want to drop in the retracts and the 3 part wing modification at the least. Do you think this plane could fly on a pair of OS...

RE: phoenix models yak 54

Woohoo... I wish I had found this thread when I bought my plane. The Phoenix Yak 54 was the second slimer I'd gotten or even built. It was awesome. I didn't know a plane could go together so easily....

RE: 1.20 Yak 54 QB Rebuild after crash

I think the plane will recover from the crash quicker than Nick! He's still traumatized from seeing the plane go down. I think whenever you have something fail and crash or you accidentally put one...

RE: Help? Phoenix Models 63" Yak-54

What do you think about flying this thing on an OS .46 AX 2-stroke with an 11x8 prop? I've got it in a phoenix Spitfire right now and was ahving serious trouble getting the beast in the air. But at 7...

RE: should I grab this plane?

Flying makes me happy too! Yay!
Unfortunately waiting makes me grumpy. I need my fix. Work is getting to me today.

RE: should I grab this plane?

No post today? I came in here with my hopes high looking for a video. Instead I get one sad sounding post from Pete. Don't let them get to you. I drove 1 hour down south to fly with a buddy and drove...

RE: should I grab this plane?

I'm loving this thread. Seriously.
It makes me laugh at work, and that's harder to do than convincing Pete he's going to crash!

RE: should I grab this plane?

Keep your speed up in the turns. The lesson I got was - "Go full throttle the whole damn time right up until you bring it in to land."
I'd probably fly it at a field with a paved strip as it could...

RE: should I grab this plane?

I never flew with an instructor, and learned from a sim (Thank you G4) - Key difference - I flew the hell outta my Sky Fly before I moved onto a GP Foamie Corsair (Upgraded to lipo and brushless...

RE: New GWS P-38 Pics

Another quick note - The airflow seems to be adequate through the electronics on the P-38. The battery was a little warm, but not overly so. I don't think I'll have to add any further air holes. I...

RE: New GWS P-38 Pics

Glacier Girl,
Thanks for the kind words. I don't have the rudders hooked up, the setup didn't really allow for it and it would require a bit of work to get them set-up. I'll have to look it over...

RE: New GWS P-38 Pics

I got in the first flight last week and am looking to get in a second/ third to 5th flight this weekend or today if the weather holds. The plane has a tendancy to drop if you give it too much up...
