In my opinion, ST 2300 was an overkill, it made the plane heavier, therefore increased your stall speed. You possibly either tried to land fast to avoid a stall and crashed, or slowed too much,...

ZDZ 80 RV Ignition - Failed Again

Hi all,

My first ignition unit failed after about 10 runs, then the replacement unit also failed again after about 20 runs. I use 4.8v NiCd pack. I can't understand still how this thing can fail...

Yes I agree, by saying inefficient, I was thinking of that rotation, but this is what the RC car guys doing all the time, forward and reverse quickly... Whatever, just a thought.

I wonder why can't we have an effect similar to this by simply using a reversing speed control, like the ones they use with RC cars ? OK it won't be so effective as this solution, but I think it will...

Ignitions... Which ones are compatiblee ?

3W, ZDZ, DA, MVVS...

Does someone know which ones are polarity compatible so same ignition can be used without changing the magnet ?

Big Bird, thanks for comments.

Mine right now sometimes backfires once or twice, and then starts. It never ran reverse, I think it is not possible in gas engines, like glows do sometimes.

Goekeli, everything is fine, no problems at all. Did about 60 fligths with excelleron, 20 flights with Funtana, 10 flights with Patty.

My findings are :
