RE: Regarding SP series engines, props and airspeed...

Yes, I agree with your description.

I dont know the engines temperature, but I do know that temperature depends very much on where you measure it. So its not easy to get repeatable values....

RE: Regarding SP series engines, props and airspeed...

One more thing concerning the pitch gauge: As far as I remember there are 2 possibilities (different angles) to attach the gauge. What I did to find out which way is correct is to set the blades to...

RE: Regarding SP series engines, props and airspeed...

Hi Michael,

I am glad that you finally managed to put things together. Yes once assembled the whole thing is sturdy and tracking of the blades on my exemplar is perfect.
However, I do not have...

RE: Regarding SP series engines, props and airspeed...

RE: Regarding SP series engines, props and airspeed...

The hub from Ramoser is built for a 12mm shaft. The shaft of the 90SP has 7.86mm, so thats the value you should mail him. So what you get is a sleeve with an inner diameter of 7.86 mm and an outer...

RE: Regarding SP series engines, props and airspeed...

Well, I do like (big) scale props, thats one of the reasons why I do like the SPs. The prop is for flying, I also sell them.

A video of the Jeep is here....

RE: Regarding SP series engines, props and airspeed...

I used a 2blade 18inch with 13inch pitch prop on a scratch built Chesters Jeep with a wingspan of 180cm and a weight of 6,5kg equipped with an 120SP. Figured out the pitch and made a scale prop...

RE: Regarding SP series engines, props and airspeed...

The Reynolds number is a dimensionless number that describes some "happenings" around an airfoil. If you have an airfoil with a depth of 2cm that moves with 10mph there are nearly no aerodynamic...

RE: Regarding SP series engines, props and airspeed...

Well, to gain max speed I would say you have to select the prop that gives you the highest allowed rpm. In case of the SP thats 5500rpm. (It has been 6000 rpm earlier, and I flew hours with more than...

RE: Regarding SP series engines, props and airspeed...

Hi Michael,

I would say it is not as simple. The 60mph is just the average speed this prop can produce. There is a tool called http://www.mh-aerotools.de/airfoils/javaprop.htm where it...

RE: exaust manifold

The exhausts from OS have the same thread. If you need a special one, mail to Weston UK. They make exhausts to your specification.

RE: cooling a 120 sp .

Hi,

all you need is a baffle right underneath the engine that leads air upwards to the engine.

RE: 22-18 Propeller on RCV 120-SP?

Hi Joshua,

thats an awfully good looking prop on the pics!
Good to hear that the engine runs fine at those rpms.
What I would suggest is to check out the ensemble in the air with an...

RE: 22-18 Propeller on RCV 120-SP?

Hi Joshua,

I remember that the guys from RCV stated somewhere that the rpms shall not be below 4000 at full throttle.
And I am afraid that 20 lbs ist too much weight for the 120 SP. You need...

RE: RCV 120

With the APC 18x12 my 120SP reaches around 5700 rpm. With a Biela 18x12, which has much thicker blades and is much stiffer, I had 5200 rpm. In the air there is no difference in performance.
So I...

Also only a guess, but it could be too lean ;) Start it, let it run for 3 minutes, thereafter set the needles.

RE: Hope for Scale Props for SPs

Just seen that for now the info is only on the german page. See "Propellergröße 16 D" which means propsize 16 D. Pitch range from 6 - 25 inch, propsize from 16,2 - 22,6 inch.
