form my own experience, 2 designs come to mind, neither one was "perfect":

The orignal Falcon 56 with 3 channels and a .19. Tail and wing was rubber banded on. When built per the plans/kit, it...

RE: Help With Home Brew Foam Wings

nichrome wire is not required. I have used music wire and it works fine. Others have reported using multi-strand fishing leader type wire. Steel has plenty of electrical resistance for this...

RE: old enya 40 vs enya 45

FWIW:

Got the engine today and as suspected, the front casting/crank assembly on the 40 is identical to the 45. The con rod is the same and the parts swapped out fine. 40 was a parts engine and...

RE: Good Reading?

Theory of wing sections, or a large part of it, is available online from NASA/NACA web site as NACA TR 824. The link below might get you there.

RE: high capacity nicads

I went to the site. Lots of good information. What is the difference between consumer and industrial cells? Generally, indusdtrial products are held to higher standards than comercial products. I...

RE: high capacity nicads

Red:

Do the 1100 ma nicds have a poorer reliability record than say the 800 ma ? If quality control efforts are kept to high standards it's quite possible that the 1100's could be just as...

high capacity nicads

Gents:

The highest capacity nicd AA cell I have seen is 1100 ma. With the thought that the further a technology is pushed, the less reliable it tends to be - has the 1100 ma AA cells proven to...

RE: nmhi vs nicad reliability

I think it will be nicads for me, at least for the flight packs. Many sources state the same things. The highest capacity sanyo AA is 1100 ma. methinks. Are these any more delicate than lower...

my plans are to use the original con rod and install new bushings. Seems like there are many materials that will work - even brass. the material properties of brass don't seem to be all that much...

RE: connecting rod bushing

pressing out the bushing should be no problem. its finding the material at a close enough size without having to resort to a lathe that will be the challenge.

ran across this on the net:

Gents:

I have an old enya 45 (6002) with a worn connecting rod bushing. I can easily order a replacement direct from enya, but I can't resist trying to repair this one. It has a brass insert. I...

RE: Proline Single Stick?

I think there were several models, including a different one when proline was built by ace for a short time. The open gimbal, machined stick assemblies were/are the most desirable. Recently ebay had...

RE: Paint for Pattern Planes

I am currently using the System 3 paints on a senior Falcon. So far, I am very favorably impressed. The stuff is water thinning and cleaning, can be brushed, can be used on open fabric - in my case...

RE: Flaperon's On These Old Bird's

RE: Flaperon's On These Old Bird's

Try these two thought experiments. The physics of this are identical to a boat circling in a river current. An observer from the shore will see oblong loops while the boat circles the same spot in...
