Need help with Zagi...........PLEASE!!!!!

I agree. Don't waste your time with Magnetic Mayhems, Cobalt, Carbon Props or HR batteries, they will just leave you wanting for a little bit more. Save up for the brushless (although I prefer Mega).

zagi 400 motor question....

Mega 16/15/4 brushless. A bit pricey, but worth every penny. Although if you use more than a speed-400 you will have to reinforce with carbon fiber spars or you will get flutter.

Electronic on zagi help please !

Sounds like you got it right. The connection from the ESC to the RX provides RX power while at the same time getting the throttle control from channel 3 of the RX. Make sure you have the little...

I can't take credit for that one, that is Hippo's design. Mine are in the BoomZilla album.

11 turn 12 turn 14 turn I don't get it.

Yeah, sounds like a good start. I searched quickly and could not find the motor constants on the WEB. A couple of places had RPM and current draw for a 6x4 or 7x3 prop. The RPMs were respectable with...

foam or ?

That's what I did. I got the idea from either a post on one of these forums, or looking at a picture of a kit. Then I used Motocalc to come up with a wing area, prop size, max battery weight, etc. I...

11 turn 12 turn 14 turn I don't get it.

What prop and what battery are you using. I'm not sure of the Kv of that motor, but it may spin a 5" prop SLOWER than a speed-400.

I think that motor can turn a 7" prop but will draw over 20 Amps...

foam or ?

I have built (and successfully flown) 5 different planes from scratch. I use DOW Bluecore (1/4" foam sheets, cut out with a razor). I got a bunch of pictures and a few plans up on...

11 turn 12 turn 14 turn I don't get it.

In general:

Fewer windings = Less torque but higher RPMs
More windings = More torque but lower RPMs

So for the same size plane, a low wind motor with a small prop will go fast but have less...

Servos on ebay

I'd be a bit carefull. I bought some of these and the -12 version. They are OK for goofing around, but I wouldn't recommend them for a serious plane. The -09s have a really wide "dead band" and thus...

Pics of a scratch built Bluecor EDF delta in flight

There is a drawing with dimensions up at www.foamfly.com . You will probably have to get the weight down a bit for stock GWS fans though.

ZagiCam

The X-10 cam will also work OK off a standard 9V battery. If you aren't afraid of a soldering iron, check out the rc-cam site, they show you how to use a $15 DC-DC converter to run off the receiver...

Brushless motor failure!?

Only problems I have ever heard of are 1) Throwing the magnets. If you exceed the max rated RPMs, on some models you can dislodge the magnets from the armature. 2) bent shafts from crashes.

Here is a shot of mine. I used a charge pump to run it off of the receiver's 5V and made an omni antenna.

Hottest Motor for an EPP Wing?

Definitely check out the Mega 16/15/4. More power than the Astro, same size as a speed 400 and only $135 (got mine at www.nesail.com). Plus they have several winding options so you can trade off...

Pics of a scratch built Bluecor EDF delta in flight

Just thought I'd share a few pictures of my latest project. It's scratch-built from Bluecor with a Vasa 65 ducted fan driven by a 3-turn Mega and 10 He1100 cells. First flights this weekend went...

Zagi Flying Questions

If you haven't flown a flying wing before, finding the right CG can be tricky. If it is too far forward, the wing will have to pitch nose up in level flight. This makes it much slower and hard to...

Motocalc for brushless setup wanted please

Doesn't look promising.. With 7 cells and that small prop you are not getting much efficiency out of that motor and only 11 oz of thrust (same as speed-400)

Hey Texan, been there done that! I concluded that my pushrods were bending under full load. I stiffened things up and now get much better inverted flight.

So much Bluecor, so few good flying days

I've tried isopropol, but it only took it about half way off, maybe with more scrubbing. I heard coleman fuel is the ticket, but haven't tried it.
