RE: NiCD vs NiMH...re-learning the hobby

I don't know if NiCD are made in the higher capacities (4000mAh+) like the NiMH. Also, I don't know any racers (mainly surface 1/10 scale and 1/12 scale) use NiCD now.

My Panasonic telephone in...

RE: good battery?

Great cells - even the unmatched will run great for you (and well in your range of price). 4.5A charge is perfect for these. They can be charged higher-rates, but 4.5 will keep them healthy.

RE: NiCD vs NiMH...re-learning the hobby

Are NiMH a bit lighter weight than NiCD? Plus, go NiMH - you can get 4500, 4600 and 5000+ mAh NIMH batteries. I suspect the larger NiMH allow for higher draw (amperage) than you could get from...

RE: hey i need some help here...

An older 2000mAh NiCD battery will be sluggish compared to a modern-day 4600 mAh NiMH battery for most applications. I've got a few older Venom 3000 and 3600 stick packs and my 4500 and 4600 packs...

RE: just bought a 7 cell 4000mah battery off cheappacks.com

Should do fine with 1A. What Red is offering is advice to keep the chemistry of the battery a little more stable. However, you don't Destroy a battery by using 1A vs. a forming charge - more than...

RE: GT Power A6 digital charger?

Looks to be much the same as IMax A6, Mystery A6 and so on. There is an A5 model without discharge and A6 with. Many on eBay. Look for "A6 charger" on eBay to see what I mean. Apparently, they...

RE: Want to get into RC Racing Help

The main thing to being competitive is the ability to learn. The guys above are saying RTR isn't a great choice because they are eager for you to learn about your car by building a kit. Now, you...

RE: Tribeshead - 1/10 4wd Electric power off-road Truggy

Good to see the results. Those pins, though very "simple" end up begin very important to getting RC cars to work. One tip is if you find you need a pin, you may be able to cut-up a body-clip (the...

RE: Transmitter batteries??

That's a good looking AA charger. I'm interested in that one myself now, thanks. Has discharge and a nice voltage output display for each cell.

RE: best way to re condition nimhs

Well, the "forming charge" is supposed to sort of balance the cells out. However, sounds like the hot cells are the ones that are "full" while the others aren't. Best way that you could handle it...

RE: 5T vs brushless

Oh, the marshalls at the track will love him :-) Gonna need a marshall in the parking lot and in the residential spaces next door to the track too.

RE: Transmitter batteries??

something like this would be great - where you could even discharge them like you would for Sub-C cells.

RE: Question about pinion and gears

When working with pinions, follow the manual's instructions on adjusting the pinion/spur gear with a little play between them. You don't want them to "bind" (or be touching tightly). Also, check...

RE: thinking about getting rc10b4 factory team, need advise

Stay with Plastic parts like the A-arms rather than Carbon. Carbon is mainly for guys who race for many years who tend not to crash much. check into getting one each of "front plate", "rear Shock...

RE: 5T vs brushless

A 5T brushed in a T4 is just wrong :-)

I'm racing my T4 with a Checkpoint 10x2 motor - it's perfect for Mod Truck class. Team Checkpoint brush motors are quite nice. Anything below that for...

RE: Transmitter batteries??

Yeah, they'd work - look pretty good. Most NiMH AA's are kind of the same.

RE: A little help on NiMH and Lipo

Also, consider length of time in the hobby. You want to do it for years to come? Off and on on various weekends, once a month?

Two good NiMh packs and two cheap Peak Chargers would be at least...

RE: 4000mA and an LRP IPC will it work?

I'd probably think that is near the limit possible with the ESC but may work as some of these allow up to 8-10 cells which is in the voltage range of your LiPo. LiPo doesn't "overpower" an ESC -...

RE: Transmitter batteries??

Any 2000 mAh rechargeable AA NiMH batteries should work. I've been using those all year (hate spending on Alkaline like some people do). A fully charged set of NiMH run at about 10.4-10.6 volts...

RE: MM not calibrating with 7cell NiMH?

The enerG cells are great cells. So, it should be something else here. Transmitter not in neutral, etc.

Does it arm with another pack? Any 6-cells laying around that used to arm it?

RE: First day I actually ran the car hard... Broken parts.

You can adjust the contact point between spur and pinion. The pinion and spur may have had too much of a gap and that could have lead to the problem with the spur. If adjusted with just a very...

RE: getting REALLY hot...

Pack may have been somewhat charged-up already. the 2nd cycle may have just put it over the edge and since time-based, not peak-charging, you're pushing more charge than it can safely handle and it...

RE: Help with NIMH 1500 receiver pack charging

If false-peaking, you want to set it to a higher mV/C. try 8mV/C or 12mV/C - that's just the setting to tell it when it thinks it is peaking. Charging at .5A will give the pack a little more...
