RE: Gee Bee R2 red color

Leo, would love the PPG numbers - can you post them or would you rather post them off-line?

RE: `problem opening a dxf file with AutoCad

Oh boy. I get to chime in here. Not all DXF files are equal, not all operating systems are equal, not all CAD programs are equal. Some years ago we were DXF-in drawings from a client - they were...

RE: Custom hatch pattern in Autocad R14

I agree with Coosbay - it is much easier to get a 3rd party pattern than it is to do your own. But if you really HAVE to do your own, look for a used book "Customizing AutoCAD" - it was written for...

STUDACHER, PRE WARBIRD?

I would not think any aerobatic airplane would really be that valuable as a pre-warbird. My reasoning is that warbirds are generally heavier with the consequent higher wing-loading, and often are...

Royal b-17

Jeff, they Royal line of kits is not Marutaka, imported by Hobby Barn - see the link below:
http://www.hobbybarn.com/airplanes_marutaka_kits.htm

Can't give you any info on the B17, but the Royal...

Shear webbing on a Ziroli Searman?

I have not built or seen the Zirolli Steaman - but is the aircraft rigged? In other words, does it depend on wire rigging for strength? If so, the shear webbing will not add much to the strength -...

Sopwith Pup - alternate covering schemes?

You might try Replicraft - http://home.pacbell.net/fraze/CollectorInformation.html - they have 3 views and color documentation. Jim is especially partial to Sopwith aircraft.

I crashed my new J3 CUB on first fly

Cubs are so much fun! I never found them especially difficult to take off with.

I went to a contest once in a considerably warmer area than where I'm from I had used golden-rods for the aileron...

I want to get into scale...

Bipes are not really any harder to fly than other types of aircraft, they are usually just slower. The small Pitts models are a handful - the larger ones DEFINETLY fly better.

Most WWI aircraft...

I want to get into scale...

I disagree with Daveo that Cubs are hard to take off - harder than the general trainer sure, but LOTS easier than many scale birds.

Cubs make great first scale models for several reasons - they...

Gee Bee R2 red color

Dunno about the FSN, it was I believe painted with Randolph Dope - you could probably find a match for it in the Stitts line of paints.

I have a book at home about the reprocuction that was built...

Pizza box flying

Completed and flew my PBF Sunday - loads of fun! Used an OS 25 FSR, plenty of power - when the fuel got low (and I had graduated to a 9.5x6) the speed started to pick up and some flutter set in -...

What warbirds do you have under construction?

Have a TF P51B partway done, and am in the beginning stages of a plans-built Brewster Buffalo, from Jerry Bates plans - his are for F2A-2, with mods for F2a-3 - I am doing what is essentially a...

Sommer Mono

You might shoot a letter of inquiry to:
John Radebaugh
106 Chase Ave.
Cashmere, WA 98815

I believe he campaigns one in ScaleMasters, at the Evergreen Scale Rally in Oregon. Nice airplane, but...

Corrugations - Ju52

That Junkers may have been the one the Proctor imports, I believe it is a Peter Barth kit. Good flyer, but it is all molded fiberglass and not what he is looking for.

Someone did a Ford...

Scale 3-blade

Hi Sean! I enjoy your website!

I have seen an ad in the back of Skyways, but can't find it right now. When I looked at the site, I believe it was mainly 2-blade, anyway. Col. Art Johnson had...
