RE: The official UNOFFICIAL thread of Tamiya Frog - LB strikes again!!

I've got the same problem, although I'm running the universal dogbones in the hope that they would fix the problem. I've also done the "bash it with a socket" trick to no avail... Might have to...

RE: The official UNOFFICIAL thread of Tamiya Frog - LB strikes again!!

Looks cool with the Jato wheels. How did it run with them on (before it snapped an axel, yeah)?

RE: The official UNOFFICIAL thread of Tamiya Frog - LB strikes again!!

bah.

I spent a couple of hours last night rebuilding and banging the gearbox side panels with a hammer/socket and got nowhere. Runs fine in reverse, now goes forward as opposed to staying still...

RE: The official UNOFFICIAL thread of Tamiya Frog - LB strikes again!!

It's interesting how how and who they're marketing the re-releases too - "Relive your childhood"...

RE: The official UNOFFICIAL thread of Tamiya Frog - LB strikes again!!

Lol, yeah. Mine are slicks now, and it tends to be a bit unpredictable even when going in a straight line!

RE: The official UNOFFICIAL thread of Tamiya Frog - LB strikes again!!

I rebuilt my gearbox without replacing the gears (new pressed sides, etc), didn't help. Probably time for new gears although these look fine..

RE: The official UNOFFICIAL thread of Tamiya Frog - LB strikes again!!

The axles on the re-issue pop out regardless of what you hit pretty much. Clean them out, JBweld, and clamp. Seems to be the best thing for them (it's come up a couple of times in this thread.).

RE: The official UNOFFICIAL thread of Tamiya Frog - LB strikes again!!

I have a heavy duty tamiya one as my stock one broke very early on, but I didn't think there was *that* much slop in the stck one. No more than the current one.

RE: The official UNOFFICIAL thread of Tamiya Frog - LB strikes again!!

Mine has always had trouble going in a straight line on sealed road, always tended to go to the left a bit iirc. I've upgraded the steering from the pop on plastic knuckle things to bolt on things...

RE: Tamiya Buggy Champ 2009 Resource Thread!

How do these buggies all compare to each other in terms of performance?  This looks like a heavier chassis than the Frog, but it's obviously going to be faster than the Grasshopper due to having a...

RE: The official UNOFFICIAL thread of Tamiya Frog - LB strikes again!!

I actually broke that bashing the other day.

That, combined with my manky gearbox slipping and needing new internals or something, is why I haven't been bashing (or posting, lol) that much atm......

RE: The official UNOFFICIAL thread of Tamiya Frog - LB strikes again!!

I love the one of the upside down flying frog. Shame it's not in focus.

I have LB's frog/snow/roostertails pic as my desktop background.

RE: The official UNOFFICIAL thread of Tamiya Frog - LB strikes again!!

That wouldn't work with the re-Frog shafts though, or would it? Does it lock the diff up?

RE: The official UNOFFICIAL thread of Tamiya Frog - LB strikes again!!

As was told to me early on, clean the join good first. In my case, I clean it out, give it a quick rub with sandpaper, clean it with metho, then clamp with JB.

RE: The official UNOFFICIAL thread of Tamiya Frog - LB strikes again!!

I JBweld'ed it to the frame in the same spot the instructions said to. The heatshield stumped me too - I haven't got it on there.

RE: The official UNOFFICIAL thread of Tamiya Frog - LB strikes again!!

Standard servo that came with my fubata gear that came with the re-issue, but a new servo saver (can't remember the number, but it's a Tamiya replacement) instead.

RE: The official UNOFFICIAL thread of Tamiya Frog - LB strikes again!!

Well, that's the thing, I've just put new side plates on it for no difference. Maybe I'll put the thick silvery grease in it instead of the white stuff... And then wack the snot out of it.

RE: The official UNOFFICIAL thread of Tamiya Frog - LB strikes again!!

I've replaced the sideplates with some spares I had around when I replaced the skid pan. While it goes great, it still sounds like crap. The axles that come with the universals don't sit in the...
