I am running 3s a123 not lipo, so be careful if you want to try lipo. I also don't know anything about the xl10 or even my own xl-5 esc for that matter :)

I wouldn't be too worried about running a 3s life pack with the stock motor or any higher turn motor. My esc doesn't even get warm and I have 5+ runs of 10-15 minutes each.

The charger specs would indicate it charges to the max voltage of 3.6 for life, just like it should charge to 4.2 volts for lipo:
