sometimes manufacturers have to change parts due to various reasons , that might explain the apparent missing part. the newer/older one may/ may not need whatever part you described.

BEC simply uses the main battery to provide power to the receiver and servos . saving you having to use a seperate 4.8 volt pack to power those devices . :)
