RE: Getting back into hobby - Best online suppliers?

Thanks for all the speedy replies. It looks like I've got a lot of options to choose from for my upcoming projects. I'm a big fan of supporting local business, and try very hard to utilize a local...

Getting back into hobby - Best online suppliers?

Back in the day, Tower was always my goto for all things that my local RC shop didn't carry. Having been out of the hobby for several years, and in the meantime moving to a town with zero RC shops,...

blah

I added a 2nd fuel tank on the CG since I put a .61 in mine and I like keeping the CG the same throughout the flight. Works pretty well actually. I don't really remember but I think I've got 12oz....

SE

You may want to make a few mods while you build it. I would suggest adding some 1/16x3/8 balsa strips to the inside of the wing sheeting. Also you may want to increase the size of the...

Prop for hovering 5.5 lbs on K&B 61

Any recomendations? This is for a SIG Something Extra so I'm kinda limited with prop diameter until I get some taller landing gear. I can hover with a 12x5 but I'm just about maxed on the throttle....

Sig Somethin' Extra

My tail looks almost identical to Lorance66's and with a K&B .61 I still can't get it to knife edge. It'll almost hold altitude with the rudder all the way over. I also installed pull-pull on the...

Im thinking of the TRX 2.5 instead of the Fantom FR15

50k sounds like just a rumor. I think traxxas states that it'll turn 39k, and companies usually exagerate. I've heard that the Fantom and the 2.5 are very comparable. The 2.5 does have the engine...

Setup pull-pull with bellcrank

I just installed my first pull-pull system running directly from the servo arms to the control horns. Just wondering for next time how to setup a pull-pull using a bellcrank.

Thanks

Covering on ARF - pls help.

Just iron down the edges. You could use a dab of CA on the wood. For future reference, only use epoxy in areas of high stress loads on the airframe-its tons heavier than CA. As far as the fuel...

No lead

I hate adding dead weight (lead) to my planes. Instead try using some of these options:

Bigger battery (maybe go 6v)

brass prop nut (these are much heavier than the aluminum type)

change...

another option

Here's an idea: Strip out the engine on your car and bolt on a rig with a mount at the top above the car. Bolt on your plane engine and prop and fire it up. Woohoo, a propeller powered car! ...

There's another dirt track here in Redondo Beach. Of course you have to either work at where its located or know somebody who does. My buddy and I built it on some unused land. Its tight and sandy...

guessing

Just stabbing in the dark but maybe the tank is too big or too far away from the engine.

I run cars also and the correct place to take the temp is at the top of the cylinder near the glow plug. There are several onboard temp sensors out there all for about $50. Unfortunately I believe...

Normal engine temperature?

Just trying to find out how hot glow engines usually are supposed to run. Has anybody taken any readings of this? I've got a temp gun at work that I've been playing with.

K&B .61 operating temperature?

I'm wondering if anyone knows what kind of temp these engines run at. For that matter, has anyone checked temps on other brands of engines? At what temp does a glow engine overheat?
