RE: Integrity of epoxy connections

The pilot in question is very experienced and has many years, so I'm pretty certain he built his plane correctly. I never saw the inside of his plane or witnessed the incident. (It wasn’t my plane,...

Integrity of epoxy connections

I was discussing an in-flight failure at the field with a fellow pilot in which the epoxy bond between push-rod tube to the fuse failed during a high-speed maneuver. He was able to recover his plane....

RE: Thrust Incidence on electric v -tail glider

Great, thxs for the answer. I ended up leaving the wing incidence alone; advice from others after looking at the plane. I was told ships like the Renny are supposed to have more negative decalage...

Thrust Incidence on electric v -tail glider

Somehow, I’m sure someone here has posted something like this, my searches aren’t finding it.

I just bought a GP laser incidence meter, and discovered how much the thrust angle is off the...

RE: Glider wing issue, defective product...

Thanks for all suggestions… I ended up ironing out the edges of the loose film; its pretty tight now. I do see that having a covering iron around does help a lot as I do use masking tape when...

Servos for Renny II Electric

I was thinking of using HS 55s all around, but someone has noted that he uses HS 65B in the wings, and HS55’s for the Vtail. The 65s have a lot more torque than the 55s. Does it make sense to...

RE: Nylon bolts for my Renny II Electric

Just an FYI: I looked at the 1/4 – 20 tap, and it looked too big for this application. The specs say 8/32, so I bought that tap, which comes with a #29 drill bit. These sizes look more consistent...

Glider wing issue, defective product...

Apparently, the entire covering on the corner of the trailing edge was not sealed, this is no big deal, but also notice the chunk of wing nearest the fuse is heavily scratched. The wing was delivered...

RE: Build problem with Renny II wing

Notice that the balsa ripped out directly underneath the servo, and wood that is glued back in place... small piece is still missing.

Apparently, this whole wood section was likely compromised...

Build problem with Renny II wing

After gluing one of the servos onto one of the wings (wrapped in masking tape), I noticed the hold was unusally weak. I decided to remove the servo by gently tearing away the masking tape, and...

Nylon bolts for my Renny II Electric

I’m sure many in the US have come across this problem.

The kit came with 4 Metric bolts, (2 different sizes) and the instruction says it’s a good idea to convert to 8/32”.

I do not...

RE: SIG Rascal Electric ARF w/ speed 400

yep, there was velcro there the whole time. I got the model rebuilt. I am going to consult with some other modelers in person to get their opinion before any flying attempt.

RE: SIG Rascal Electric ARF w/ speed 400

I think you hit it on the head, the loss of control on the very first flight was probably due to incorrect CG "ie. Battery balance", but the model was somewhat flyable. Then it never quite flew the...

SIG Rascal Electric ARF w/ speed 400

Hello all!

A few years ago, I purchased and built the SIG Rascal ARF w/ speed 400. On first launch, I had somewhat of an uncontrolled flight, but managed to bring the plane down. I should have...

Just ordered the Renny 2M E II w/ail

Just ordered the Renny 2M E II w/ail, and was wondering about the using an older power plant (from my Omega Electric days, what fun those days were):

1) Kontronik Fun 400 - 42 with Maxon...
