RE: The Official Traxxas 4wd Slash Thread...

4wd is way different from 2wd and really requires a different driving style. 4wd gets TONZ more traction. When you slow down or stop it loads on the front tires, with 2wd it makes braking very easy,...

RE: The Official Traxxas 4wd Slash Thread...

Ya, pretty interesting, a gyro in a truck. I guess I can see how it would be helpful for when it starts to break loose, or for cornering on dirt.... for $15 it might be worth checking out. I doubt...

RE: The Official Traxxas 4wd Slash Thread...

I don't get it, what does a gyro actually do for a car?? You got steering and throttle.... that's it. I don't think your answer really explained it. What does it do and where does it plug/wire in...

I like the bigger tires for dirt and general bashing... definately want smaller ones for street or if you're racing. I wish I had a track [:o]

RE: The Official Traxxas 4wd Slash Thread...

Ya, there's definitely a draw-back to jumping into a new model before all the bugs are dealt with and other companies can design parts for them. I kinda wish they could have just named it something...

RE: The Official Traxxas 4wd Slash Thread...

RPM has clearly stated that the 2wd parts don't work on the 4x4 version.... Some sellers are pretty bad about listing details like that though. I had to resell a whole set of RPM arms, skid plates,...

RE: The Official Traxxas 4wd Slash Thread...

Still, that's $80 for front and back... maybe next month. I already spent too much as it is. Such an expensive hobby, but these trucks are pretty sweet! I want to scale it up to like dune buggy...

RE: The Official Traxxas 4wd Slash Thread...

Wow, been looking at the new MIP telescoping drive axles for the 4x4 slash and they look pretty sweet. Much better design that the old dog-bones. Problem is, they want $55 per set, so $110 to do...

RE: The Official Traxxas 4wd Slash Thread...

Nice! What is that on the end of your drive shaft with the slot cut in it??

I was wondering... with the bigger 2.8 wheels and say.. 1/2" hub extenders all around, wouldn't this truck pretty...

RE: The Official Traxxas 4wd Slash Thread...

K, so I stayed up late last night putting in the new parts, took some pics today. The shocks mounted fine, they come with their own aluminum top bushing so all you have to use is a regular screw...

RE: The Official Traxxas 4wd Slash Thread...

Took my truck out today. Lots of things getting in ontop of the axle. I need to add a peice onto the axle cover so there isn't the opening at the end of it. I put the center diff in, so there's no...

RE: The Official Traxxas 4wd Slash Thread...

Watched the video. I think it would be fine if you trimmed it even with the chassis and did something to seal the top edge to keep rocks out. Something like that push on trim they use on cars that...

RE: The Official Traxxas 4wd Slash Thread...

Here's another closer one on the truck. I ordered my paint with the truck body, but my two cans of "cobalt blue" were really a blue pearlecent speckle paint. I went and had to buy a can of Ford...

RE: The Official Traxxas 4wd Slash Thread...

I'm using 3s equivalent A123 packs at 10v. I'm using stock gearing (w/ center diff) and have had no thermal shutdowns. I am also using the velenion clip-on esc fan.

Anyone having thermal...

RE: The Official Traxxas 4wd Slash Thread...

I didn't change the gearing, still a 54 tooth spur with whatever the stock pinion is. It's definitely faster, yet not over geared. Would swap out for a 52 or 50 tooth spur if i'm wanting to show...
