If your going to RE-RIG the hull to that extent, IMO would be better off selling the whole boat close to a RTR as you can and start with a NEW bare hull of choice and build one up like so many...

Honestly that engine even modified I doubt made 2 1/2 HP and props that actually were NOT TOO BIG happened to also be 3/16 hub stuff from the .67 / 11 cc nitro engine boats.
1/4 cable is overkill...

Yup, the Aeromarine collet Mart states is the one ya need. It will be 3/16" buts thats just fine for that engine and it's HP and torque rating.
Cabling use the 3/16 flex to welded stub type. ...

Come to our NEXT District 9 heat race in Fremont June 2-3 ... have a few guys who race with us who are custom painters and others know of other local painters that also can do R/C boats.

Yup, in low power /rpm weed wacker engines 25:1 to 40:1 is pretty common.
High HP and RPM modified race engines like the Zenoah & RCMK we use 16:1 ratios !!

Exactly [:@] .... most recent are using split o-ring type seal with a relieved area within case between engine sections. Better but IMO still not right :)

Why ? because of the hull being a Shallow V design with heavy straked bottom. This makes hull a high lift light on it...

Speeds a relative thing .... In a world of like hulls, PI's, Thunderbolts etc you should be in that mix speed wise low 60's to mid 60's at best IMO.
Raced with the newer sleeker, faster more...

In-Lines are MUCH MUCH simpler IMO.
One motor mount, One throttle linkage with synchronization done between carbs, ONE drive shaft and ONE prop is far easier to set up, maintain and replace than 2...

Not seen a PB for some time .. Dan states a ferrule is in use then that leaves an open stuffing tube at strut connection point ... not much you can really do in this case IMO. Packing in more grease...

You can always slip a short section of XL silicone tubing over stuffing tube having @ 1/4" hanging off that just drags on the cable creating a low friction seal. ( This at engine end )
