I just picked one up minus plan and instruction book.

I have most of the assembly figured out. Need some help on the wings and what the CG is.

Wing issue is how the ailerons are hooked up....

I would definitely go for the Robarts. I am almost to that point  now.
When i was growing up my dad had the stearman and I can remember the stock gear being very weak.

How is it for filling area's, say you had a sheeted wing and it had a small low section that with glass you would spend a week filling and sanding 5 billions times.
