IMO RC is all about building and tinkering. While there are plenty of ready-to-run options, there are loads of kits, or if you're really ambitious, you could build a number of them from scratch...

I would make the trade. I'm partial to T-maxx's, but there is good reason. You can do a lot with a T-maxx when it comes to aftermarket parts and modding.

T-maxx uses 14mm hubs for the 2.5, and I *think* 17mm for the 3.3. If you've got 14mm, I'd upgrade to 17mm, there are a better selection of wheels and tires at that size.

My money is on the diffs being wrong. Can't imagine the engine running backwards, that'd be pretty hard to get it to do, if it would at all.

If it's a lexan body, it'll crack real fast. The lexan itself is supposed to be your clear coat, so to speak, you paint the insides.

It stands to reason that shops would carry more parts for the most popular monster truck out there. It's more of reflection of the popularity then the durability, IMO. ALL MT's break.
