RE: Anyone see this site?

(note: opinion based on about 10 minutes of research on their site)

Yes you could use these for RC, but I'm not sure that you'd want to.

Most of the motors listed had a pretty low speed...

RE: Analyzing the failure of GWS 350

I think that motor also goes under the names of Multiplex 280BB, Simprop 280BB, Permax 280BB, Acro 280BB, and even as the Great Planes S-280BB.

Prices look to be anywhere from $22 to $40...

RE: Analyzing the failure of GWS 350

As to the best brushless for that system, I'll defer to someone else. To get you started, you need to know the weight of the plane and the type of flying you do. This info will help narrow the...

RE: What motor do I need?

If I remember correctly, the watts per pound rule says 40+ watts per pound for ROG take offs and 60+ for simple aerobatics like loops.

Using Crashes suggestion:
EPS-350C-CS w/ 10x6 draws 7...

RE: Analyzing the failure of GWS 350

Hi Zagibond,
Generally speaking brush wear is caused by two factors, the first is normal friction wear. The second, and more important, is wear due to the electricity arcing between the brushes...

RE: What motor do I need?

The biggest question is how many watts out do you need? In addition to Crashing's questions: how much does the plane weigh?

RE: Too many choices--need advice.

TP,
Matt probably hasn't answered yet because there is no way to know without having one of those motors on hand to test. From what I can tell there are no published specs on the S-280 motor (as...

RE: Matching Battery to Motor Question

Hi Matt,
As a general rule of thumb, the 280 motor that you have shouldn't draw more than 2 to 4 amps depending on how you prop, use of a gearbox, etc. (I have one on my desk right now that draws...

RE: Need Basic Training!

Hi,
Your first question is "What are the brown thingies soldered onto the motor?" These are ceramic disc capacitors. Generally you use two or three capacitors on the motor to help suppress...

RE: What I've Learned @ RCU

1. Anything will fly with a big enough battery (electrics).
2. If you pay less than $$$ for something to fly and it doesn't, don't let anyone know. After all what did you expect?
3. ARF/RTF...

RE: Too many choices--need advice.

The BLT was my first jump into electrics too. I think I made some mistake in building it because it kept spinning to the left after about 5 feet of rolling on the ground.

I did manage to get...

RE: Wiring Li polys

Here is a link to one. It's only good up to 20 AWG, but you really shouldn't use wire smaller than that for anything anyway.

RE: Motocalc - Motocrap

Motocalc is actually pretty good to get you in the neighborhood of a decent airplane setup. By no means is it 100%, heck sometimes it's not even close to 80% accurate, but it is just a starting...

RE: Facelifting a GWS Zero

Great Job,
I've been thinking about doing something similar for my Corsair.

BTW, I don't know if you've seen a picture of a white one or not, but your's looks darn close. Check out:

RE: GWS ME109 BATTERY RECCOMENDATION?

Hi Chris,
Yes you can use li-poly's. Look at the Kokam 1500HD, Thunderpower 2100, or the E-tech 1200. Get a 2S1P or 2S2P configuration which will put out 7.4 volts to be safe with that motor. ...

RE: Force of gravity different in Taiwan?

The US has safety standards such as airbags, side impact beams, passenger parachutes, halon fire suppresion systems, etc which weren't taken into account when they weighed the plane over there. ;)

RE: GWS ME109 BATTERY RECCOMENDATION?

Hi Eepers,
There are two motors that GWS packs with their warbirds: 300C and the 350C. These motors are the same as Graupners Speed 300 7.2V and Speed 300 6V, respectively. Which in turn are...

RE: Please help, need receiver advice

Hi Robert,
I'll leave you with this one last thought. There is no such thing as a "BEC compliant" receiver. This function resides entirely in the ESC. The Hobby shop people you've been talking...

RE: Why is my motor shutting down with a full charge?

I second Phil's suggestion. Dump your ESC and get a Pixie. There are so many garbage ESC's being produced, but Castle's are quality.

RE: Question about CASTLE CREATIONS ESC/BEC

Hi Captain,
I believe all ESC/BEC's on the market provide 5V to the receiver. It's a production cost issue in that 5V regulators of the small size needed are plentiful whereas other voltage...

RE: Still having trouble with a SS ESC install

One other thing, the 9.6V battery pack you have is too big for that motor. The specs on your motor say that the operating voltage should be limited to 8.4V. As far as getting 15+ minute flight...

RE: Still having trouble with a SS ESC install

Hi Robert,
Okay, there are two reasons why the motor stops when you go to apply full throttle. Either the ESC is being overloaded due to the amp draw (most likely) or the battery is being...
